Default Considering Ecstasy Galveston Need Input on Pros & Cons

My DW and I live in the middle of Kansas. We obviously are not very close to any ports. One of the big factors in planning a cruise is airfare to ports. We must fly out of Wichita, which is not a hub for any carriers. This means flying anywhere is very costly. Here is my plan to have a reasonably priced cruise. We can drive to Galveston in about 15 hrs. (700mi) a very long one day trip, but very do-able for us. This can be done both ways for less then $200 . I can get a 1a guarantee on the Ecstasy for $600. I think we could be happy with this cabin. We just want to go cruising again soon. This seems to be my best way to go more often.
Just wanted to get input on ship, cabin type and Galveston in general.
Any info is appreciated. We are planning on going in Jan. 08.
Thanks
Gary & Rox

Apryl;
That is great info. That is the kind of info. I need. Checked them out, and can get room for $60 for a night. It is close to the port.
Thanks Again.

Be aware that 1A is upper/lower beds, not two lower convertible beds.

Shura;
I know this and that is one of the decisions I need to make. We don't spend a lot of time in our cabin. This would insure that we won't.. There is always the up-grade fairy.
Thanks

Question for you. If you are driving so far, why not book on the Conquest for a longer cruise?

Gary and Rox, Harbor House is right ON the port. You can walk from the hotel to the terminal.

Luanne;
I need to do the whole thing within a week's time. The 5 day leaves on a Mon. Returns on a Sat. Can be home by Sun. evening. It is difficult to get more than one week in a row off. I would love to go for the longer cruise. Just difficult in my work situation.

Mehawk;
I will check it out . Thanks both of you
Gary

I Love The Ecstasy. She was my first, and will always be special. She is very easy to get around on.

Have a great cruise
