My MIL was just asking about this same question. They would like to find a hotel that will be conveniently located near the pier, or maybe has a shuttle to the pier. Plus, how much should they figure on paying for transportation from the airport to the hotel, or from the hotel to the ship?

TIA for the help!

There are dozens of hotels in downtown Miami or South Beach that are close to the port. Where you stay really depends on what you are willing to spend. An oceanfront resort on South Beach can be greater than $500.00 per night on weekends.

I have stayed at the National Hotel in Miami Beach and really liked it. On an upcoming cruise on the Carnival Valor I am staying at the Sagamore Hotel on Miami Beach.

Miami Beach has some very nice hotels and it is only a few miles from the port. It has all the night clubs and restaurants plus the beach

The day before I fly into Ft Lauderdale then taxi ($35) to Neawport Beachside Resort, about half way to the port. The morning of the cruise I taxi ($35) to the port. I leave about 10:30am to get be in line at 11am to beat the busses from the Miami airport. Fairly short lines and very low stress. On Sundays check out a little early because most guests stay for a weeek and check out on Sunday morning.

Older place, Not eligant but clean, comfortable, and nice beach accomidations, restaurants, and pool. Good size rooms.

I really like the downtown InterContinental Hotel. It's about a block and a half or two, to Bayside Market Place. About a $10 ride to the pier.

With luck, I've got it on Priceline, bidding downtown zone, 4 Star - for about $100 several times.
