Default what to wear for dinner -- non-formal nights

What is considered appropriate for dinner on non-formal nights? Are black or khaki pants and tops ok?

Yep .. those are fine.. slacks and a nice top for the ladies work as well..

You can also dress up as much as you want.

Dingy jean shorts, tennis shoes with no socks and a torn T-shirt would be just dandy.
