I believe on Carnival every person i allowed to bring 3 bottles of wine/champagne onboard. If you want to take it to dinner with you just put it on ice that afternoon and just take it with you and they will uncork it for you. They do charge a $10 fee for uncorking but in my experience if you give them a tip when you had over the bottle they do not charge you the fee. I am not saying it will work for you but it has for me in the past.

I believe the limit may be higher than that. I was on the pride a few weeks ago and we sat in the dining room with a couple who brought on a bottle for every night of the cruise. They turned all the bottles over to the dining room staff and they delivered the bottle that they specified for each night of the cruise. They also had to sign a 10.00 sign and sail charge for every night as well.

we brought our own wine. two bottle for six of us each night we ate dinner. We didn't turn over any bottles and did not have to pay the corkage fee. We drink red wine so it didn't have to be chilled. Maybe that was the difference.

We hand carried the wine in the grocery bags right on to the ship. No one ever said a thing. Since we drove to port. We didn't have to worry about flying them from home to the port.

They may. A friend of mine cruised out of San Juan and bought some liquor on the ship. When he was at the airport to fly home, the security folks confiscated the liquor. He's willing to bet that they had a good party after they got off work.

Your best bet may be to put the wine in your checked luggage when you're flying--if you pack it good enough, it should survive. We had three bottles of rum that we checked after our cruise, and it survived the airflight perfectly.

Then when you land, you may want to move it out of your checked luggage and into your carryon if you're able to. If you're not able to, it should still make it to your room fine, but you just might not have it for dinner the first night depending on when your bags show up and when your dinner time is.

Not really cruise related but years ago I was returning from a week at Club Med Cancun and I packed a bottle of tequila in a canvas bag that I checked. As the luggage was coming round the carousel I heard rumbles from people talking about the stench of tequila coming from a bag and as my bag approached I saw a huge we stain on it. Yup it was by bottle of tequila that had broken and ruined all of the clothes in my bag and probably made about 120 people ill because the last thing they wanted to smell after returning from a drunken week in Cancun was tequila.
