Sorry, I know this has probably been asked about eight hundred times, but how much for a bottle of water on the ship? I had thought the water they leave in the room is free, and the same about the minibar, good thing I found out they aren't. I drink about half a gallon to a gallon of water a day, so it is a real concern to me. Is there any after taste to the ships water, I read a post that said that there was. I am going to be on the Legend. Thanks for any help.
Studies have shown that the water on a cruise ship is better then bottled water. Never tasted any after taste. What I do is bring enough bottled water for us each to have one. Just before bed time, I fill them back up with ships water and either put them in the frig, or the ice bucket. By morning they are ready to go.
There is never a question you can't ask!!! If we are tired of it, we won't answer, if we know it, we will tell you, if we don't know it, we will make it sound like we do!!
$4 price is for the large bottle of water. The smaller ones run around $2 including gratuity.

In the past we have always just carried on a bottle each - usually something we got in the airport. Then in the morning I fill them with ice - the ice is in tiny little chunks - and then cold water. I carry those off the ship with us. For the next one, I plan on taking an insulated cup (learned that here!) for carrying on deck!
I don't drink anything with caffeine, so that leaves me with water. I drink the ship water all week long and love it!

You can also buy a Carnival thermal cup on board. I am drinking from mine right now.
Can I mention something else, which is a little off subject, but still pertains to drinking on board?
I drink tea. I know it's that southern in me. The Tea on Carnival is instant. I don't like that after taste of instant, so I take a pitcher and tea bags. I make sun tea, or use the very hot water in the bathroom, and make sweet tea. With my thermal mug, I am able to carry my homemade tea anywhere on the ship. Also in your cabin will be several wine glasses. I use that for my tea, for a special, look at me I feel rich feeling.
They also have those little individual packets of tea or crystal light you can bring with you. We usally bring 6-8 bottles of water with us. we take them into ports. I have only had the ships water taste bad once. And it wasn't because it was the ship because I had just been on the same ship the year before and it was great. Maybe the filters needed changing.

They will not say anything to you for taking bottled water, or a couple of bottles of wine.
Our first cruise we took a case of water, and it weighted a ton. Filled an empty bottle up on the ship, made the mistake of putting it with the container of the left over bottled water, and could not tell which was which. They both taste the same.
