I see you cruised in 1982 and not again until 2002, why the 20 year break? I have trouble waiting a year.........
The funds simply weren't there, for a number of years. The ships weren't sailing out of Galveston back then (my backdoor port), so I always had to factor in airfare. We always had a boat of some kind, so our vacations were usually within driving distance to a lake, with the exception of a ski vacation each year, Hawaii, and a few others. By the time the funds were more available, dear son was in college, so my money and my son were at Southwest Texas State University.
When our son got married, we gave him and his wife a cruise for their honeymoon. The next year, I decided it was my turn again, and again, and again........
I remembered how much I enjoyed cruising. Fortunately, my DH enjoys it as much as I do.
The fun part is being to take our son, DIL, and precious grandbaby with us as often as we can. Our grandbaby will be 3 next months and has been on 2 cruises. She looks at a ship and says "Is that the Conquest?" Bring them up right!

I understand. Funds have not been available either but I had no desire to cruise and my wife finally talked me into it after she went with the girls on spring break and wanted to go again. I broke down and the four of us went out of New Orleans on the Conquest........... WOW was it fun.. We are plannign on going on one a year forever.. We skipped last year due to paying for our daughters wedding (= many many many cruises). Our son is in college but we can sneak in a cruise annually now...
I have been on many vacations over the years but cruising is the best I think..........

I want all of it! Cruises, resorts, camping (in our 5th wheel -- really roughing it!), anywhere, anytime! My middle name has always been "Go." Being the caregiver for my MIL has really cramped my style, but I'm managing (sometimes!).

OH NO! No MIL on any of my cruises! That is my vacation! She was still living by herself until last year. Now she is to the point that she has to have 24 hour attention. The knowledge that I have 2 cruises on the books is what helps me get through these days!

I don't really have a preference. I like checking out the different ships, but wouldn't mind a repeat cruise on any of them. My least favorite (other than the Dolphin) is probably the Grand Princess. The ship was a little difficult to get familiar with. The food was O.K. but not necessarily impressive.
I like both RCI and Carnival, so I can't really say that I like one over the other. I do think the RCI ships are much more beautiful than Carnival, but that is just aesthetics. My favorite ship is always the one that I'm currently on!
Oh! Worst cabin was on the Ecstasy!!!! Directly below the galley! Did you know that the busiest time for pastry preparation is in the middle the night! There was an industrial sink directly above our cabin, with the 3" drain pipe dropping down the bulkhead of our cabin! :evil: Always check to see what is above and below when booking!

Hey Lou, yes, some of the cruiselines are better than others. I have experienced two and they happen to be owned by the same corporation. Judging by my leaning on one particular line, one can see who I like the best.

You both have cruised enough I have a question. We are booked on the Glory for next month and we have a balcony room in the middle of the ship right under the Lido deck. Will the pool above us be an issue for noise?

My guess would be "No." Unless there is a big party going on, most activities move indoors, come evening time. If there is a party going on, that leaves only one solution, that I can see...... You just have to join 'em! If you can't be part of the solution, be part of the problem!

Ahhh... Yankees? Bosox? Last time I observed the standings at the end of the season, the Cards were the champions and the year before was the Chisox. I know because the 'Stros are in the same division as the Cards and the Chisox beat us in the Series.

How can you still have fun if your BOSS is going on the cruise?
Hey your Boss is going on a cruise so He or Her can't be all that bad!! This could be a great opportunity to bond on a different level, or ruin a working relationship. It is a fine line.
I know his boss is a great guy.. One could not ask for a better boss!

You know, if he is really a great guy, I'm sure that he would pick up all expenses for the employee. A loyal employee is so hard to come by these days. A boss that would do that, would probably be recognized for his generousity at the company Christmas party he would pay for in December.

Monty works full-time elsewhere.. He only works AS NEEDED for me.. He might only work 8 hours a week for me.. So now you know that do you think he should be sucking up to me for more hours or should I be sucking up to him? He will listen to all of you so please let him know... I don't drink so he won't need to buy my drinks but he could sit with me in the casino as I like to play there.........

I picked up on that pretty quickly. I also picked up on the fact that you must be used to that, and take it in stride. I just had to jump in here, though. I hate for someone to have fun and not be able to throw a little fuel on the fire!
