Bella, thanks so much for your offer! We will be sailing (first cruise) on the Triumph on 4/14 and are very excited. But I've been hearing (on boards) that they've had trouble with their glass elevators and also with the main swimming pool. How were these during your cruise? I don't mind the stairs, but my mom is 72, and she's counting on the elevators that are close to our room. Also my kids (14 and 10) will be mighty disappointed if they don't get to use the slide! So please let us know if we need to readjust our expectations. And thanks again for any information you have!
The main pool and slide were in working condition everyday. The glass elevators all worked except one did not work for two days.
The food in the dining room each night was on par with other Carnival Ships. Also you have a choice of pizza, grill hamburgers and fries or sandwich grill. There were always plenty of food to go around. I did not like the buffet during lunch so I went to the options that I mentioned.
The shows are fantastic including comedians and magic show.
In Cozumel we just went shopping. Beware of a guy on the street with a small monkey. I got bitten.
In Grand Cayman we were booked for the hell/turtle farm and stingray tour. But due to high winds the stingray portion was cancelled.
In Ocho Rios, we got a cab up to Dunns River Falls (8 USD pp round trip) and 15 pp for entrance. Perfect however make sure you have your water shoes with you and a water camera. Then several of us did a stingray tour with Carnival 59.00. It was great you are just on a beach and they bring the stingrays to you. So you don't need to go to far in the water.
Is it assigned seating for all three meals in dining room?
Was it hard to find a lounge chair by the pool?
Is there a place to develop photos on board?
And some q's on your Dunn's River Falls experience.
Could we take a digital camera to the Falls or is would it get wet?
Were you reluctant to give your camera to your guide?
Is mosquito spray required at the Falls?
No it was open seating for breakfast and lunch in the Paris dining room.
Yes very difficult to get a chair by the pool. People started saving chairs around 8am. So I would go to deck 10 towards the front or back of the ship.
Yes you can get film developed. However if it is digital then you must have a pictures developed, you can not choose which ones you want to.
I would not take your digital camera to the falls because it will get wet. I would trust the guide, I was the first in line so I held on the hands of the guide. I am afriad of water so it was all good this way. Don't forget water shoes. You can rent them there for 5 or buy for 15. Do not need mosquito spray.
Tx again! My wife has a few questions if you will oblige.
1) What type of food do they serve at the Lido deck buffet? Hours of operation - can we get a late breakfast here if we sleep in?
2) Can you pick up food from the grill in your bathing suit?
3) We were thinking of buying water shoes for the Dunns River Falls excursion, before we sail. Are slip-on type OK or do we need the kind with laces to keep them from falling off?
Sorry for the delay in answering the questions....
Shoes for Dunn's River Falls. The slip on ones are fine because they come up around your ankle. Make sure that they are a size smaller because of water getting into them. I never saw anyone with laced up ones.
I can't remember how late breakfast was on deck because I was always there by 8am. The food was normal breakfast food. Remember that there will be smaller buffets outside by the pool area too with most of the same food. (shorter lines)
Yes you can wear a bathing suit in the buffet line, no problem.
While I have used "water shoes", I find it much more versatile to bring a pair of Teva "sport sandals"...they worked fine on the falls, are basically waterproof, and are incredibly comfortable. And they work for most uses (except dinner)...
