Default **Passport Info Needed -- Please Help!

We have a Mediterranean cruise planned for four in May. One person may be backing out and we found someone else to go in her place, however, she does not have a passport yet. We leave in 45 days. I read the threads about delayed passports and all, but has anyone gotten a passport within the past two months or so that received it on time? Will the expedited service get it here in time? Any information would helpful!!

Latest information from the passport office is that even expedited passports are taking four to six weeks.

They still have a chance but a very slim one.

I saw something on the news where people were applying for emergency passports and getting them quicker. Might call and check on that, not sure if it will help. Carla

Check the website of the post office.

www.usps.com and find the link regarding passports. I think there's a phone number where you can monitor the process or something. Do this immediately.

PS...for faster service - pay by either cash or postal money order. They won't have to hold up the application for check clearance - which they do when paying by check. My mailman of 25 years told me that.

I applied for my passport on March 10th, expedited. I received it on March 23. That was only 13 days.

It makes no sense as to why some people's passports take much longer. I was on the passport website this morning checking on my husbands passport. (he did not expedite his) The current time for expedited is 2 weeks. 10 weeks for normal processing. You could also try and make an appointment with the nearest passport agency to apply.

My wife paid th extra on March 21st for a rushed passport for her and my daughter and they just arrived today March 30. A 9 day turn around isn't bad but its expensive. $127 State Department fee and $15 for USPS. So go for it.

That price I mentioned was just for my wife. My daughter was about $15.00 cheaper for hers but only good for 5 years due to age.

also, in any major city you can go get "emergency" service within the same day, but you have to hang around all day till they have it for you.
