although I'm going to bring my cell phone and will initiate international calling with my provider, verizon, would anyone recommend I also bring a pre paid calling card? If you have used one, can you use it from your stateroom phone without any extra charges?????
You cannot use it in your staterooms. Also be careful with your cell phone. Some providers charge you regardless if you answer your phone or not. At 1.99 a min that can get expensive if it rings. Also make sure you know what your charged for like text messages.
I know exactly what my provider will be charging me and even though I have the int'l feature my phone will be turned off the entire cruise. I do not want any outrageous phone charges. My parents will be with us on the cruise and they would be the only people that would HAVE to get a hold of us.
Reminder: Not all "calling cards" work from the ports you go to. You can buy a card at each individual port. Also, some 'Net Cafe's have a "Skype-type" system which you can use for a small fee
so, I should get calling card while I'm in Freeport and Nassau and call from there?
Are there actual payphones on the ship that we can use (with or without the calling cards purchased in the ports)?
I'm not planning to make a lot of calls, but I do need to let my son make a quick 1-2 minute call to his dad every evening (we're divorced) and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do that.
