My DH wants to be totally out of contact with the world (the office) which is fine by me, but I want to check in with the kids from time to time. What is the internet like on the ship? DH wont even let me bring my laptop!
Tell him to let you take the lap top and you will only check it one time a day for e-mails from the kids.
Computer usage varies on the ship. There is really no set price, because almost from day one, they have special deals.
If he absolutely insist that you not bring it, you could use the Internet cafe on the ship, search for a cafe in your different ports, or you could call your kids from the different ports.
In most cases, the internet is very slow onboard the ship. You may want to even try an internet cafe in ports. They usually use a high speed and cost is very reasonable, less than $5.00 for an hour.

the Captain thinks you should compose all your emails off-line, then connect to the Internet and send, as Donna said, the internet on ships can be PAINFULLY slow and you do not want to spend a lot of time composing your mail while connected. Another recommendation, purchase a time-plan as soon as your board, usually they have boadingday special, something like 100 minutes for $40-$55 (varies with cruiseline). Where are you cruising to? Cuz, if it's the Mexican Rivera/Baja, the Captain would be more than pleased to tell ya some locations/hotspots where you can get free wifi access.
Happy cruising everyone
