Default Carnival's NEW Beverage Policy

My travel agent just sent this email

Quote:
Carnival Updates Take-Aboard Beverage Policy. Carnival Cruise Lines now prohibits passengers from bringing alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages onboard, including bottles of water. The cruise line updated its liquor and beverage policy this week and said that aside from an allowance which enables passengers to bring "one bottle of wine or champagne per person on board only during embarkation at the beginning of the cruise...any additional quantity of wine/champagne or any alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages will be confiscated and discarded without compensation." A Carnival spokesman said the rule was changed because guests had been bringing on too many nonalcoholic beverages. Carnival also said that "alcoholic beverages purchased in the ship's gift shops or in ports of call will be retained by Carnival until the end of the voyage."
Recently....Has anyone had beverages (alcoholic and nonalcoholic) confiscated during embarkation or while on the ship?

Oh! So you pulled a prank and they think this is one as well! Sorry folks, it's true. That is the email I just got from my travel agent. She tells me it is on their website as well, but I can't check that site at work, they blocked it (I can't imagine why!). Anyway, has anyone had their beverages seized in the past few weeks?

They allow one bottle of wine per person with the usual corkage fee, but that's it, no water, no diet Dr. Pepper.....nothing! I've begun to collect Listerine bottles for the alcohol. Food coloring should get it the right color. But I am totally baffled over the water and soda policy....they don't even offer Diet Dr. Pepper! I'm gonna try it and if I lose my beverages in May, I'll let you know. I do plan to tip the porter WELL!

Melody

PS LOU, apparently you don't know me very well! I'm honest when it counts and that's it!

I know they will take beverages from your carry on luggage, but I'm not sure about the checked baggage. I was hoping someone who had cruised with Carnival recently could share their experience....if they actually brought or tried to bring beverages onboard.

And I don't need any grief from anyone over breaking the rules and/or bringing alcohol onboard.

We took water and soda on in Feb. without any problem. Even took wine on in Belize. Sounds like a new deal. We will have to see how well they enforce it. Let us know how strict it is.

I guess we will hear about it soon enough if a Cruisemates beverages are seized! Let me know if you hear anything and I'll do the same!

BTW, I've heard of people buying alcohol in port and pouring it into a giant drinking mug. They said they walked right back onto the ship with it...no questions asked!

I dunno if it works, but we might try!

When we were in Grand Cayman, they didn't search my bags when I returned to the ship. They asked if I had alcohol and I said yes. I gave them the bottles and they sent them to my cabin on the last night. I've often wondered what would have happened if I had said No!

Melody;
When we would get back on the Glory they had a sign if you have alcohol take it to this guy sitting at another table. I just put my bottles in my bag and ran it through the x-ray. They never said anything, so I just took it to my cabin. I would rather ask for forgiveness, than ask for permission. If you know what I mean. We will see.

If They did not have such high prices we would not have to take anything on the ship,
My husband drinks beer and it was $ 5.50 for a bottle of bud wiser come on ....... Even if it was $3.00 they would still make a ton of money, proofit and still sell more.

Gotcha Gary !

I hear ya Gail!

My biggest problem is the fact that they do not offer Diet Dr. Pepper.....and I've been called a margarita snob, just because I like mine made a certain way! If Carnival would offer it, I would buy it! The $5.50 beer is over the top, reminds me of Disney World!

I am a diet canada dry girl myself, and did bring it with me , and had no problems,

I brought home a 12 pack in my suitcase, and the airport, opened up my luggage, and left me a note, stating they opened it for the saftey of all passengers , and went thru it, but never took it out.

I just talked with someone from Carnival and they said the changes with carrying on pop has changed. They don't want people taking a couple cases on board but they don't have a problem with a 12 pack.......
I will be taking a 12 pack with me..

POP, that is definitely yankee slang! The sentence should read "...changes with carrying on Coke!" Now that's the Southern way my dear!

Be sure to keep me posted and I'll share my experience with you!

Later,

Soda water is from Alabama, I think! The general population in the South calls them cokes...as in "What kinda coke do ya want?"

*in my best Southern Lady drawl, I say*
Why Lou!...one would think you have been lurking on the HIH thread! I do declare, I mean my drinking experience.... of course!

Now what can you do with that?

Later,
Melody

Wait a minute as a true blue yankee (not a yankee fan) we say Soda or sometimes Tonic. As in; what kind of soda do you want with your sub?

No disrespect Mam.

OK! Keith I am the Yankee Fan not Lou123. To call Lou a Yankee fan is a insult to all Yankee fans!! He does not get out much, but I know that everyone one east coast calls it soda and in Germany they call everything Coke. So forgive him he is not very educated, slow, and old!!!!
