Most are sold out. They always keep some cabins free in case of emergencys, but that is still considered sold out.

Yes:

Cruise ships sail close to 100% capacity. At high season, summer months, they actually sail over 100% capacity. 100% capacity is calculated at 2 people per cabin. If the triple and quad cabins are sold out then the ship will sail at at 102% to 105% capacity.

During the cruise drought, of 2001 to 2003, the cruise lines were only sailing at at 95% to 98% capacity, on average, and they were hurting.

Take care,
Mike

It has been reported that the smaller Holiday out of Mobile sails very often at better than 110%.

8) I sailed on the Victory in January and there was only aroun 2300 people on board. The ships double capacity is 2758. There may have been more, but it didn't seem like the ship was full. No major waits in the breakfast/buffet lines, which was really nice.

I'm hoping that September when I go it won't be too crowded either. I am travelling alone, so I have a whole cabin to myself....I surely hope they don't boot me down to Verandah deck from Panorama...I sure am looking forward to a cabin one or two steps away from the action.

I think every cruise I have been on was completely full or as close as possible. I took two cruises where I booked at the very last moment. Once I got the very last cabin available on the whole ship, and last Feb by the time I booked my cabin there were five left on the ship, four of which were suites. I was hoping for an upgrade there but they were booked by the time we left port.

Mike M - I missed the drought-I'm sure some of it was in the wake of 9/11. I sailed twice that year-once in Jan and the second two weeks before the attack.

I have been on over 100 cruises, not one fully booked. Close though, esp in summer.
With the elimination of topless retreat areas, perhaps there will be even more vacancy.
Try to book very last minute, on your own, you may be surprised what you can save. It is great if you live in Florida and can drive to port.[/b]

The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) and I sailed "Century" the week after 9-11. It was only about 1/2 full. At the end of the seven day cruise, they were offering for anyone who wished to stay aboard for the next 7 day cruise, could do so for $100 per person. That's the least number of people we've ever experienced on any cruise. Other than that, and especially lately, the "full ship" sign is always on the pursers desk.

First cruise April 21st so would not know if they fill up! I just hope they don’t fill up like the Greek Ship did!!

Sorry I know that was not funny, but that is the first thing I thought of when I read the title on this posting!

Monty you and I are going to have fun. My first thought was only when they leave the windows below the water line open.
