WOW I almost hate to even post a reply to this nonsense. Life is what you make it. I feel badly that you were inconvienced on your trip, but the only reason you or your children had a bad time is because you allowed yourself to. First of all I am not even packing the 10 pounds of toiletry items for my next cruise, because Carnival provides top quality products for use and it just takes up space in the bags. So the fact that you had free toiletries and soap and shampoo etc meant you were clean, so fine do you really think anyone notices if someone has the same outfit on each day?? Nope. I packed different short outfits for each day to find most of the time I was throwing the same pair of shorts over my same swimsuit most of the week. Guess what I didn't stink up the place nor did anyone notice what I wore. There is no reason you all couldn't have participated in all events. PS My boys would have welcomed any opportunity to ditch the tie and jacket on formal night. They were happy at the pizza counter

They lost my bag in Miami for the Victory for a 7 day. I guess because I have cruised with them several times they gave me $250 for my bag and comp. laundery for the week.
When I got home they sent me a voucher for a free Bon Voyage gift for my next cruise. So on May 7, I will be on the Fasination with a free bottle of Bubbly waiting on me.

I was very happy with how they delt with my situation.

I should add that crew members and shipmates gave me clothes to wear plus I had the few things I packed in my carry on.

I did not let it ruin my cruise, it was just another life experiance.

My mother did not have any luggage delivered on a Princess cruise once (the airline misplaced it). It was indeed a major hardship for her. Of course she made the best of it, but I don't see any need to sneer at the OP as if HE is a bad person for not appreciating the "opportunity" to have fun anyway. He is asking for what to do, not for advice on how he should have enjoyed having no clothes more.

For those calling the OP a "troll", that is snide and uncalled for. He has responded to a number of posts, and did ask very politely for advice on how to proceed in his first post. Much more politely than some of the rude responses he got.

And to suggest that what he posted "might not be true" is reprehensible. To the person who said that, nobody knows if anything YOU post is true either. Just food for thought.

Cheers, Aidan

Aidan,'

Where is the OP now. We would love for him to come back on and tell us all the good things that happened. We would love to help plan his or her next cruise. We would love to help him or her have a more enjoyable time next time.

I explained about "Trolls" because people come here to learn. They, just like I did, take pretty much everything to heart.

Airlines loose luggage. Cruisers have also had their luggage misplaced on a ship, only to be found later, but I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF LUGGAGE GETTING ON THE WRONG SHIP

As far as believing anything I say, (and yes I believe that was directed at me) I tell what I know first hand, I research what I dont know. I have yet to have someone come back on here, and tell me that the info I gave was wrong. I have had them come back to thank me.

The OP asked a very specific question and got some helpful responses, so I imagine he is gone and well-served by Cruisemates.

Just because he didn't want to chat about the topics you enjoy doesn't make him a troll or liar! Calling somebody either without cause is a very nasty thing.

Cheers, Aidan

I agree with Lou, no need to dwell on the "troll" that once was. Luanne you have done nothing but post factual articles or answers to questions. I have yet to see someone disagree with what you say, actually what you say is usually quoted as correct.

I have! Not quite sure how they had the incompetance to manage it, but it has happened at piers where there is more than one Carnival ship in at the same time.

It thankfully doesn't happen often, but it has happened.

Iam kinda new on this board and I never really thought of anyone coming on and posting hoax topics, I did think maybe people would gloat like travel agents and so on...With that said it was insightfull to actually hear that people do that..interesting rather. Now on the whole luggage thing, I would be mad but lets face it, most of the clothes you bring on the ship are not "Brand New" besides maybe a bathing suit and a formal dress...A 50.00 credit on board plus the money I would of brought to spend Im sure would cover something "NEW" to wear. Hell a reason to spend money on clothes. Should always make the best of your experiences never let someone else or a situation dampen your day

I just wanted to say that what happened (or "may have" happened) to this poster is the total opposite of what happened to me in this situation.

When the airline lost my luggage before an 8 day exotic western carribbean trip, Carnival couldn't have been more helpful. Despite the fact that it totally wasn't their fault, they provided me with a voucher for formal wear rental, a $100 credit in the ship's store, and told me they would take point for getting me my luggage...which they did at Belize, our first port of call.

There were only two problems: underwear (not found in ship's store) and shoes (not in ships store at the time...I think last cruise they at least offered flip-flops). Fortunately my traveling companion was the same size as me, clothing wise, but unfortunately not shoe wise.

This is not to say that the poster couldn't have had a different experience. But I just wanted to point out my own.

Now, of course, I travel with two days worth of clothing in my carryon.

Default self assist embarkation

Just to add my two cents.
My wife and I just got back from a 4 day on the Fantasy. We wheeled our own luggage onto the boat. They were not the small 16x24 sized luggage but the next size up roughly 20x26 or so. It just fit into the xray machine. They are also expandable, so when we debarked, we just expanded both, put all our extra stuff we bought in them and wheeled them right off. I don't really know if this is feasible for a longer trip, but I would assume that you can easily do it for a 5 day as well. Two more extra hints, carry a backpack or carryall bag and throw extra stuff in it, and I just wore my formal jacket onto the boat, so it wouldn't get all wrinkled. Oh yeah, don't forget, they don't limit you to # of bags like an airline does, so if you can wing it with your airline or your driving to the port, try two smaller luggages instead of a big one and just roll them on.

**Thanks! I thought that you could do this, but was told no by another cruisemate member that you couldn't take your own luggage on board, I will be taking the same size as you mentioned .I have cruise planned for July and I will being doing the same, don't want to lose my luggage. Thanks for the info.

I wouldn't worry too much about the luggage thing. I have cruised 4 times and there has never been an issue. We normally travel with 14 or 15 other people and none of them have either... So, don't worry.....
It would be a hastle to carry it on, but to each there own!

FACT-I have never been on a bad cruise, just some have been better than others. I can't imagine how many things that would have to go wrong for me to have a "Bad Cruise Experience".

The curb side thing?
I have no plans of carrying my suitcases on the boat. I drop them off, as everyone else does, and have the ports carry them for $5 or $10....

Default Another idea . . .

I definitely suffer from O.C.D. (obsessive Compulsive Disorder).

Therefore, after I give my bags to the porter, I tend to stand around and wait and see my luggage loaded onto either the ship or at the very least the giant bins where they put the luggage. Once it is in the bin and I see the bin moving toward the ship, then I can proceed to check in.

Plus I tend to get to the ship relatively early (b4 2:00) and therefore, it is easy to watch your luggage b/c the crowd of luggage is not too bad.

Did the OP mention what time they got to the ship? Perhaps, they were some of the last to board and therein lies the confusion.

While I am sure it may have happened, I have never seen two ships loading passengers or luggage close enough together to cause this confusion. The only thing I can reason is that their luggage may have be the last few pieces to get on the ship and there was some sort of miscommunication and the loader took it to the wrong ship.

I have never seen two ships loading passengers or luggage close to each other. Who knows what really happened, the OP should just move on and should have made the best out of a bad situation. A Carnival Cruise must not be for them, hopefully they can find other things to do for their vacation. My DH & I just loved our cruise vacation. We have one planned for July on the Legend. Can't wait to sail away...
