From what I've seen if you use your Discover card with Carnival you will receive 5% cash back. Has anyone done this before? Did you encounter any problems?
Do you earn the cashback on just the booking, or is everything through Carnival elegible, such as S&S account balances and Fun Ship Dollars?
Discover card rebates are through Discover Card. They have different special going on all the time. Right now I am signed up for one that gives you 5% on all gas purchases. One time I was signed up for all travel purchases another it was Restaurants and the movies. They change these all the time and you can switch from one plan to another. Call you Discover customer service and ask what is available to you. I pay my balance every month so I never pay interest and I end up getting $300-500 a year in perks.

Discover is offering 5% cash back on purchases made at Carnival. I'm just trying to figure out if the cashback is given on bookings only, or if my purchase of Fun Ship dollars will earn me the 5% cash back as well. Alternatively, will using my DC to pay off my S&S account net me 5% back on my credit card statement.
If you read the details from Discover's "Get More" program on the travel promo, you were entitled to 5% cashback bonus on purchases up to $1000, which is $50, but for me that was only valid for purchases from January to March 2007. Yes, I booked and paid for my cruise in February, so I received the $50. I am not sure if the get more program varies from person to person. Right now, my April to June promo is home and apparel and that is good for 5% up to $500 in purchases which is $25. And my July to September program is gas -which I have a good supply of- hotels, theme parks, museums and zoos. I don't know if this helped anyone or just confused the heck out of you.
