Default Cruise ship repair

My wife and I are looking forward to our cruise aboard the Miracle in three weeks. From what I have heard she is undergoing a refit before her reposition cruise out of New York City. I have always wondered what yards repair cruise ships. For example right now the Miracle is undergoing a refit and I would like to know which yard carrying out her refit. There must be a website that covers this type of information.

Default SHIP REFIT

Some of the ships go New Orleans, some to Norfolk, Va, and other places.
We have seen them in dry dock at NORFOLK,VA, what a magnificent sight, from the bottom top the top. Disney also brings ships to Norfolk, for refit.

I have seen ships being worked on in Freeport Bahamas as well.

Here are a few websites that I found;
www.casgen.com
www.marinelog.com
www.cruiseindustrynews.com

www.cruisebruise.com is another interesting website, lots of news and videos!

I worked at Newport News Shipbuilding from 1982 to 1985 and we had several cruise ships come there for repairs. There are a lot more cruise ships now so I would assume that Newport News still gets the occasional cruise ship. It’s the largest shipyard in the US but does mostly navy work. All Nimitz class aircraft carriers have been built there.

Recently Fascination cam to Charleston, SC for re-fitting. The local newspaper told how pleased Carnival was with the work. Carnival said they would be bringing more to Charleston.

Next to the drydocks is a small park. We would go there on Sundays and watch the workers. We were sorry to see Fascination leave.

Mention of the Newport News shipyards brings back a loy of memories of my days on the USS Forrestal. We had a couple of dry dock repairs there and it was fun navigating the Elizabeth from pier 12 at NOB.

Default REFIT

ITS neat to see above the water line as all do but for us who have seen the bottom it a site to see.The anchors are lain on the bottom of the dry dock, little people work on the bottom, the ship lit up at night and the from cars going in to the tunnel at night it is a real site. We ahvbe also seen ships at refit in the islands. The discovery chanel did a whole show on refitting the cruise ships.

Do you mean the "USS Fire Stall" I was in the Navy at the same time. Seems like "She" was always on fire.
