how safe are the "safes?"

I was thinking of leaving my valuables in the safe (purse) but doesn't the crew know how to open them? How does it work? Do they take a card of yours with a magnetic strip and code it specifically for your safe? Im not sure I would be comfortable leaving things in the room as it's just me and my son. I'd rather schlep around my purse. Anyone here ever have something stolen from their safe?

they can only be opened with YOUR credit card so they are very safe...mine on the Triumph was small though...no way would my gigantic purse fit in there so I carried my purse everywhere.

I always use the safe, and have never had a problem, this past cruise on the Valor I actually forgot to even close it , as I was rushing off , and nothing was touched.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind.. though I'll probably wear my tiny purse with essentials all over the place anyway.

You can actually use any card that has the magnetic strip on it. I used my drivers license. Do not you your sail n sign card as it will wipe out the memory and will no longer work. I used our safe with no problem. The only other people that can open it is security.

We too have always used the safes, with absolutely no problems. We take along a card (Sams club, or membership card of some kind, a card that won't matter even if we lose it!) that we use specifically for the safe, then put our "stuff" inside, and don't worry about it for the cruise.

We also use the safe and never an issue. The Sam's Club iodea is good. No big deal if that gets lost.... Keep the other cards locked up.

The safe's are not very large, but I can get my wallet with my credit cards and money, jewelry case, plane tickets, etc. in it with no problems.
I wouldn't worry.

The ones I have used are opened and locked by punching in your own personal four digit number. I have never had a problem in using them.

This has nothing to do with carnival, but it made me laugh, about a year ago, I went to foxwoods resort casino, and spent the night, I put a lot of cash, into the safe , and my husband and I went and got dinner and brought it back to our room to finish a good red sox game, when we came back into the room the safe was opened , the money gone, including our car keys, ( which we had a rent a car,) I was out of my mind, we were so upset, we could not even tell security what kind of car we had other then it was green, they had to put security at the entrance to the garage, until we could resolve this problem, we were not even in the computer, so I knew it was an inside job, and they wiped us out. come to find out we were in the wrong room. That is why they could not even find us in the computer, When we went to our real room, our money was safe and sound, along with our keys, it was not funny then but it is now.
