Sending mail from the boat?!?!
I am cruising this weekend,my dh will not be going. I wanted to send him a postcard from every place we docked. I know there is a mailbox on board the ship. At least I think I remember it being one on the ship :?:
My question is will the postcards get to him before i do? We are doing a seven day to San juan,St.thomas,Bahamas and Grand turk.

On the 1st few days it might make it back before you but if I remember correctly, mid week and later I beat the mail home....
Worth a try anyway..
Fun to get postcards from different places.

The ones dropped into the mailbox aboard the ship don't get mailed/postmarked until you're back in home port. At least they didn't for our first 2 cruises. Sooo, we like to purchase stamps and mail the cards ourselves while we're ashore. CAUTION: a block of 6 POSTCARD stamps in St. Maarten cost me 10 bucks US. Enough to make me go.......well.......POSTAL! :x

If I drop them in the mailbox while in port, can i use US stamps for the places we are going? Or do those places use different stamps as well?

We had to buy the postage from where we were mailing from. Different countries have their own and it usually costs more. We have never had a postcard arrive home or friends before we returned.

When I was on Destiny, they made mail drops at every port. I mailed off postcards to my friends every day and got the correct stamps from each island at the pursers desk. My friends absolutely LOVED getting them post marked from each island. If you want, you can get the stamps and get everything done then drop them when your in port. That works just fine as well... Have a fantastic trip.
