Default Aft Cabin-what do you think?

We are booking an aft cabin on the Conquest (Empress Deck), some input please.

Grandy;
We had an aft cabin on the Glory. The Glory and Conquest are identical in layout. It was 6454 which is one deck below the Empress. We loved it and would book it again. I love the deeper balcony. It is also protected from the night breeze being aft. There was a bit more noise from the props, and some vibration. Being one deck up from where we were you should be in great shape. You will have cabins above and below.
Enjoy
Gary

I have an aft cabin on the Carnival Valor in May. It's on the aft port corner with a large L shaped balcony. Cabin 6452 on the Upper deck. I'm really looking forward to it.

Too bumpy.

I've had the most forward cabin and the farthest aft cabin on ships. The motion does not bother me. The only thing that was a slight bother was the bow thrusters on the Carnival Destiny when I had a forward cabin on the Riviera Deck. It was an alarm clock each day as we pulled into port.

A very early alarm clock on the last day since we docked in San Juan about 5:00AM.

I have had cabins all over the ships and I have found that the closer to the front has been better.

What I am mostly concerned about is the vibration and noise. My PVP says we are high enough that we should not have that problem. Do you all agree.. Also how is the view from aft

Grandy;
The view is Great. You can't see where you are going, but get a great view of where you have been. The vibration shouldn't be a problem. We noticed it most as we were docking. you will be a deck higher than we were. I know we will do the Conquest in the next couple of years, and I am going to go for an Aft balcony.
Enjoy
Gary

I prefer the middle of the ship. Is there any truth that the middle of the ship provides the smoothest sailing?

For the least motion an inside cabin located on the lowest deck right in the middle of the ship is best.

I've had an aft cabin on the lowest deck (Rivera Deck) with no problems with engine noise or vibration. All Carnival ships have electric motors for propulsion. They produce electricity with multiple diesel generators. Electric motors will produce very little vibration. The diesels will vibrate but they are well below passenger decks.

On my previous 4 cruises, We have always chosen to be as close to mid ship as possible. While setting up our Nov Cruise in the Valor, Our Travel Agent told me we were in luck because there was an aft balcony left on the Verandah deck and they are prized or preferred cabins because of the deeper balcony. I never knew this. I always thought the Aft would mean more movement. Whatever the case, I can't wait to try it. Motion doesn't seem to bother us very much and DW is pretty squeemish at times. I'm looking fowared to it.
