Default Grand Cayman & Ocho Rios

My BF & I are leaving on April 28th on our first cruise going to Grand Cayman Island and Ocho Rios, Jamicia.

I figured since you all have done so well with helping me to pack for my trip I would turn to you once again for ideals of can't miss things to do in either/both of the ports.

I have looked at some of the shore excursions being offered by Carnival (nothing really stood out), but I've also heard that it is sometimes less expensive to just go into port I do some site seeing on your own.

Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Grand Cayman I would feel comfortable doing my own thing, but with Jamaica if you don't know the area, and don't know what to expect, I would go with Carnival.

In Jamaica, you have to do the Falls. Everyone should do it at least once. You will also be so close to it. We had to travel for 2 hours from Montego Bay to the falls.

I GC you have to do the sting rays. I have a great independent excursion for this, if you are interested.

Hi there,

My GF and I will be on the same cruise as you! We are planning on going on excursions in both places with outside companies. For Grand Cayman, we were looking at Captain Marvin's for the Stingray City snorkeling tour and either Peat Taylor or Orville Taylor for the Ocho Rios tour.

Very good reviews from what I've read and much cheaper than Carnival.

Capt Marvin is good for Stingray City-also Kirk Sea Tours. In Jamaica I would book through Carnival. You might also look at river tubing which we did. You start up in the mountains and travel down in a winding river with some (tame) rapids.

I have done Captain Marvins in GC and it was awesome. Definitely book with them for the stingray tour, total life hilight!

As far as Jamica is concerned I am strongly suggesting that you book through the carnival. To this day it is the most unsafe place I have been to. I have heard many horror stories over the years and when we were there a table mate of ours almost got mugged/drugged.

We did the falls tour with Carnival and it was awesome! I hear the river tube excursion is good too!
