Is there anything to do at Port Canaveral while waiting?
My DH & I went on the Sensation last July & there is really nothing to do at the terminal. If you wanted to go several days early you could visit Disney it isn't too far, or do the Kennedy Space Center tour-(that is a really neat place to visit). We just got to the terminal early to check in & waited to board the boat. Just sit there in chairs & watch the wide variety of people.

The Kennedy Space Center is worth a visit either before or after your cruise. But you need a full day to get the complete tour. You can go to the pier. We watched some surfers the day we went. Ron Jon's surf shop is really huge. We are not surfers by any means, but spent about an hour in there looking around and BF found him a hat for the cruise. Check out the web for things in Cocoa Beach. You can get some touristy ideas from it.

Theres really not much near the port per say. By port canaveral there is a marina, and there is jetty park (beach accsess and dock). Everything else is kinda far unless you have a car then you coud take A1A down and then the beach is on your left. Ron Jons is also a great place, lots of stuff if you like to shop it will keep you occupied for a while. depends what ya wanna do.
If you are there a day early, you can go to Merritt Island on the 520 (Cocoa Beach Causeway). Just after you crossed over the Banana River on the Left there is a restaurant Banana Breeze and they have water taxi that will take you all over the local waterways. You can see the coast, mantees and dolphins. They have night time tours too. Check out their website.
WoW...Ron-Jons is that big? So I take it Port Canaveral is not like the port here in Tampa.
Ron Jon's is a pretty good sized surf shop.
2 floors.
Probably the size of your average 2 story, mall , Sears, JC Penney, etc...
Definitely a great selection of swim suits and other cruise wear.
Our last cruise, we stopped and my Wife picked up a couple of skirts and a couple of swim suits.
I got a hat for our Mexican cruise in September and a couple of T-shirts.
