Default wearing the same outfit twice...

ok, so we all know..PACK LIGHT.

yeah right...last year we went to disney and the beach for 3 weeks and for 3 adults and a child i took 5 count'em 5 humongous suitcases and everyone had carry ones. shhhesssh.

for our cruise i want to pack light.

I dont own a garment bag, but will have to buy one...if i pack one suit will my hubby feel funny wearing it 2-3 times? I have one formal dress, but isnt there 2 formal nights on the conquest? Plus the nicer restaurant....Will i feel funny wearing that dress atleast 2 times, probably forgoing the second formal night.

I plan on wearing capri's or a simple dress on reg dining night and hubby is saying he will (such a rebel) wear jeans atleast once..but secretly i've purchased kahkis for him without his permission MUAHAHAHAH.

anyway, how the heck do you people pack light?

Is there irons on board in the rooms?

I promise not to say anything to you about wearing the same thing twice if you won't notice me doint the same thing!

There will be irons available in the laundry facilities.

I gave up packing light! I tried it once and hated it! I like having options and when they are limited, I always wish I had brought something else.

Is it September, yet?

People won't even notice it's the same suit if he wears a different shirt and tie combination.

I can pack five changes of clothing into a garment bag, place underclothes and three pairs of shoes into a suitcase. Is that light enough?

I have not figured out how to pack light yet. My problem is that I keep trying to bring the whole house. DW and I went on a cruise once and there was a couple on the shuttle to the ship with us and all each one of them had was a carry on bag for a 7 night cruise.

If someone notices that you are wearing the same thing, tell them to get a life. There is no way I am going to lug around two formals, two suites.

I have packed lighter each cruise, and I still take to much. One of these days I will get it right.

just make sure your husband packs enough" fruit of the looms" for each day away plus 2 extra pairs in case of "emergency" and that whatever he mixes and matches for evening wear will go with the same set of shoes (either black or brown) (VBG)

So, it is possible to pack light but FUN to pack heavy. Last year, when I went, I packed enough clothing for three changes each day and an extra each day, just in case.

I wear a black long dressy skirt or palooza pants with a different fancy top and DH wears the same suit but with different shirts and ties. We don't worry about packing the suit, we bring it in our carry on and send it out for dry cleaning as soon as we get on the ship. It is always ready for formal night and costs the same, sometimes less than at home. Last time I had my pants pressed as well and it was wonderful not to worry about them.

It is a violation of Carnival rules to wear the same thing twice -- it is in your documentation!!!! Just kidding.

Bring what you want. I am like the other poster. I bring enough clothes to change clothes 3 times a day and then I bring one or two warmer outfits - just in case and an extra outfit or two, just in double case. I bring at least 10 pairs of shoes.

I have a lot of clothes (hopeless shopaholic) so the thought of leaving the sandals home that match the dress or not to have a choice of which t-shirt to wear with those flower capris would make me crazy. Therefore, I am a hopeless, unrepentent heavy packer!!!

For my 8 day Liberty cruise (got my docs today!!!) I will have 3 pieces of luggage 25, 22, 19 inch wheelies. The 22" will hold my shoes and toiletries so that I stay within the 50 pound airline limit. The 25" will hold my clothes. The 19" will hold enough clothes for 24-36 hours and stays with me right up until I get to my cabin in case my luggages plays hide and seek for a day or two.

I cruise solo so I have all the closets and drawers therefore packing heavy is not an issue. Plus my standard outfit is a flowing cotton sundress with matching flat t-strap sandals so the clothes do not take up a lot of space or weight a lot.

I don't generally do laundry while on vacation -- isn't that a sin? -- but may do a load on the Liberty just to keep everything fresh.

I B Cruzin, I do believe we were twins, separated at birth! You sound just like me! However I have a DH that has to roll his eyes at the amount that I pack. You can imagine how effective that is to make me pack lighter!

OHHHH, and you're Doc Dancin! Yeah! Isn't it great!

I don't mind wearing some stuff more than once. Tux two or three times; same dress pants more than once, and two pairs of shoes. However, my wife has a different out for for each day with shoes to go with it.

That's why we have to lug 3 full size bags. Since all my stuff is in one bag, I lug one and she has to lug two.

No worries, you are only going to know a few people on the ship so who cares if you wear the same thing twice....heck, the ship will be full of people form all over the US, Canada, and even some foreigners.

I didn't know how much to pack so all I took was two shirts, three tank tops, one carpi, and two pairs of pants, and dress clothes (one pair of pants and two blouses)....Ok, so I didn't have a lot of choice as to which shirt I was going to wear at night....blue or green alternating nites. Tank tops did well considering most of them dated back to my first cruise in 1991 (and they still fit!!!). Capri's did well for the whole cruise, yes, they were ready for the wash for sure.....I fit beautifully with space to spare into one 25" and one 20" suitcase, coming home I had both jammed full as well as the carryon and the beach bag (which transported the most important item-Tortuga rum cakes!!!).

Next cruise I will take four shirts, five tank tops, and two capri's.....I will leave the running shoes at home and just have one pair of dress shoes along with the sandals I will wear...September will still be OK weatherwise here in Alberta (Edmonton specifically for those who want to know). Unless winter decides to come early this year...better not.

If people are so shallow to notice you are wearing the same outfit they DO need to get a life!

I wore the same black pants and shirt every night to dinner, didn't bother me one bit. I could care less what others think!

We did use the laundry facilities onboard so keeping things clean and fresh was no problem.

I REFUSE to pack my closet just for a short vacation. I'm there to have fun, not worry about my clothing.

Dh and I have one suitcase (rather large I would add) we share and the kids share another. We each have a carryon. That's all we take. Period.

Maybe it isn't what "others" think, but rather what is your preference.

Here you are trying to pack light... Since we are not flying to our next cruise, I am so excited to just pack EVERYTHING and not worry about being under weight for the plane!

I mix and match all my clothes so I don't have to bring everything. I think I bring 2 casual slacks, 3 shorts and 1 black pair for formal night. Then I make sure all my tops match the 2 pair of casual slacks and shorts. I have 2 different shirts for the black pants.

my cruise in July with my teenage son on Sensation will be our first. I will only be bringing 3 pairs of shorts - white, khaki and blue jeans. I will be bringing 2-3 short-sleeved t-shirts and 2-3 tank tops to mix and match during the 4 night cruise - we have a day in Orlando before and after the cruise as well. as for shoes, I'm only wearing sneakers (onboard and excursions) and a pair of flat comfy sandals for onboard. swimsuit, a pair of pjs and undergarments/socks round things out. for son, 2 pairs of light khaki's and 5-6 short sleeved shirts. Also a long-sleeved casual black jacket for me and a sweatshirt for him for a/c cold.

Only splurge on undies-skimp on everything else. Last cruise I forgot a tie so I bought one onboard. Once I had no socks, so I took care of that at the late lamented Trimminghams in Bermuda.

I suggest if possible to mix your combination of items if possible amongst at least two bags- that way for unforseen reason a bag doesn't make it, or get one bag later- you have a combo of mixed items.
-I was in spa one day and jokingly said -does anyone ever use your scale in here for luggage..she looked at me funny and said I was wondering why an elderly couple carried and dragged luggage up here! I think it was an ah- ha moment for a new spa staff member :o
Any questions on Liberty 8 day -we just got off April 8th- have all capers and can do my best to answer questions.

I have two keys to packing light:

1.-Shoes. I bring NO MORE than four pairs. The dressy shoes that will go with any and all formal outfits; the flip flops, the comfortable but fashionable sandals I can walk in, and lightweight sneakers. The sneakers I wear on the plane, so I'm only having to pack 3 pair. It is AMAZING how much room that saves. It's also painful...I love shoes!

2-Color coordinating. As much as possible I try to make sure that things I have mix and match. I can rotate navy, black or white capris through a multitude of tops and nobody knows...especially when paired with fun jewelry bought in port (which I have room to bring back because I didn't pack twelve pairs of shoes).

By all means make sure you have at least a change of clothes, underwear and a bathing suit in your carryon. In my case, I will also have the dress shoes and a wrinkle-proof sundress I can wear in an emergency!

my friend thought she had a great idea to packing light. the first formal night i would wear my suit and she her new dress. the second formal she could wear my suit and i would wear her dress. i nixed this idea, she would probably carry this idea over to everyday wear, and i do not look good in a bikini.
