Default 5 Weeks to get Passport Status Online

Applied for Passports March 18, with regular service. The checks were just cashed on April 17 and finally the website shows receipt of my application. It says to assume 10 weeks since it was regular service. No problem for us since we are cruising in August!!

I'm on the 10th week since I applied for mine and the website still states it is being processed. I don't sail til July so it's no biggie.

My husband and I applied March 10th. I expedited mine but his was regular processing. His also states that it is being processed but no mail date shows. We aren't cruising, YET, so it's no big deal. I had to expedite mine since my daughter is going to Ecuador for two weeks on May 9th. We figured one of us should have their passport in case of an emergency.

I was on the 11th week waiting for my sons passport and the web site kept saying it was being porcessed so I e-mailed the NPIC and the next day the web site showed that it had been mailed and then recieved it 2 days later via Priority Mail.

I don't know if the e-mail had anything to do with it and we still had 5 weeks before we cruised.

I applied on 3/6 but didn't do the expedited. I sail on 5/20 and I still don't have it. I'm leaving 5/17 to head to a wedding & then directly to the cruise terminal from there. That leaves only have 7 mailing days to get it. I've emailed & called the NPIC to let them know I need it by the 17th.

I've also applied for another copy of my birth certificate (since passport app took my original) but its arrival may cut it close as well.

I wish I'd know about the passport delay prior to applying so I could have gotten the expedited service. The USPS office I applied at said I'd been fine with the regular service (~6 weeks).

I'm getting really nervous.

They cost around $100. Give or take a little.

That happened to me with my son when he went out of the country I ordered it in plenty of time and when it came a week before he left I still didnt have it. You can call and pay the extra and they will get it to you within a few days. If you ask me it is a money making thing, they know you need it and you tried to do it without paying the extra (which is what I did to) and they just hold it and basically make you pay the extra. Same thing happened to me. I paid and I got it right away to.

I applied for my passport February 17th and I'm still waiting. I chose the regular service since they told me it would take only 6 weeks. Since then I've already got another copy of my birth certificate but I'm mad because I wanted to have the passport I paid for it and it should be here by now. I can't get through on the phone line to them either. Anybody else have any luck with getting their passport.

I guess maybe that is what they are doing. Since I don't sail til July 1, I am not too worried about it. We both have an additional certified birth certificate we can use. I totally agree with Purple_2005, I paid for a passport and would like to have it.

I already put in for my passport for December. I wonder if they will push me back too since I sail so far from now....

Not sure why it is taking you all so long... I applied for my Daughters passport on Monday April 31st, paid the expidited fees and $15 bucks for express return mail. Had the passport in hand on May 9th!

That site is not too truthful beause I've been waiting for my passport for 12 weeks with regular service and they claim that only takes 10 weeks.

Not the case at all, I have been waiting for 12 weeks now, when originally it was 6 weeks, then changed to 10 weeks, who knows what it will be next.

It is not a real time database. It states what the USUAL turnaround time is.

Since many folks waited this long to apply, they are backed-up. It never took 1 week.

I think the slower service is pretty much what was predicted. When so many people starting rushing for a passport, the wait sounds like it just got longer and longer.

I've had mine for years, but back when I got it, the wait was about 4 weeks, if I remember correctly.

Good luck everybody!

I corrected my post. I meant to type 10 weeks. The USUAL time used to be 6 weeks. The website is saying the estimated time is now 10 weeks. I've currently been waiting 12 weeks. That's why I say the site in not very truthful.

I called when I was 2 weeks away from my travel date. It took me a few tries and some time holding but I was able to get through. The NPIC agent put a "rush" on my passport processing request and she told me to call back if I didn't have it by Friday (this was Monday). It arrived Friday afternoon via FedEx and I wasn't asked to pay any extra.

Whew!!

That's funny because when I call I can't hold because a recording says all agents are unable to take my call and then the call is disconnected. So I do don't have the option to hold.
