Default Freeport and Nassau do we need to take our passports

Do we need to take our passports off the ship when we are in Nassau and Freeport do we need them to get back on the ship? Do we take our sign and sail card to off the ship?

Never take your passport off the ship. Make a copy of the pertinent page, and keep it with you just in case, but that's it.

To get on and off the ship you'll need your sail and sign card, and picture ID (driver's license).

Thank You for answering my question as I would have taken it off the ship with me not knowing it was not needed.

don't we have to turn in our passports when we board, then we get them when the cruise is over?

No.. You keep track of your own passports. Lock them in the safe.
