I'm not real good with details but I'll try!
I think we arrived at the pier in Mobile when everyone else did! It took probably 30 minutes to get on the boat and we headed to the Lido deck and sat by the pool while we waited until they would let us go to our cabin. I wish now that we would have waited until 1:30 to get onboard because my 2 year old son was not content on just sitting!
The boat was great! I had heard that it was looking old and smelled but I didn't see or smell anything like that! It was our first cruise, however, so I didn't have anything to compare it to. To me it was huge and I stayed lost for the first two days!
Around 1:30 they let us go to our cabin and we checked that out for a while. It was bigger than I expected with 2 beds pushed together and a bed that let down from the wall. That night when our steward turn the beds down he also made a cot for my son at the foot of our bed. The beds were SOOO comfortable. I may look into buying some bedding from them!!! The room at night however was FREEZING! I actually like it that way but my kids never stay covered up good so I wish I had brought them winter pajamas!!! (I finally figured out the last night that you could turn it down from the ceiling) Boy did I feel stupid!
We decided to eat dinner without the kids (daughter 8, son 2) but Camp Carnival was not running the first night until 10pm. We ate the buffet which was always good but not great. I expected lots more variety, maybe there was more on the midnight buffets but we never made it to any of those. We ate a lot of pizza and ice cream!!!!!
Camp Carnival was having a family party so we went to it and my son won the dance contest, he had a lot of fun and we did watching him!
At 10pm we took them to the playroom and walked around for a while, picked them back up at 11:00 and went to bed.
All of my days run together after the first day!
My daughter was happy when they finally had water in the pools...I guess they wait until the first sea day to fill them up....we swam, they went to camp carnival various times throughout the day. It was sort of a hassle at times because they open at 9am, close at noon, reopen at 2pm, close at 4, reopen at 5 and stay open until 3 am. Nonetheless I was ecstatic to have it regardless but I was constantly watching the time to make sure I didn't miss the closing times. My daughter LOVED it though, she wanted to be there whenever she could!
Formal night was great! We dressed up and went to dinner. We only had one other couple at our table but they were great!! (I hope we'll be long time friends!) By the end of dinner though we were beginning to feel seasick! We picked the kids up, put a patch behind our ear and went to bed!! By morning we were better!
Day 3 we were in Costa Maya when we woke up. We walked to the shuttles and someone sold us a "beach party" bracelet for the four of us for 60 dollars. They drove us to Muhuhual...they had an h instead of a j and I was a little worried but the shuttle was full of people going to the same place so I felt better about it. They let us out and a man was waiting there to point us in the right direction. We walked down the dirt road along shops and bars/restuarants on the right and the beach on the left. We got to our place and our waiter set us out some lounge chairs and put an umbrella in our table. We met up with some friends who I met on here! I'm so glad we had them to hang out with they were SO fun to hang out with! (More life-long friends I hope!!!!)
The package included a snack, lunch, and unlimited alcohol from the bar. My husband took FULL advantage of the bar. THe only problem was that you had to walk to the bar to get it.(This did not hinder my husband in the least!) The waiter did however bring snacks and food. The chicken quesadillas were great! The beach was great except my son got into some tar...little black chunks lying around in places...again he's 2...if its something he shouldnt get into he will. It didn't seem to affect anyone else...he was just curious.
They had a bathroom with a shower to wash off the sand...not the greatest place but it was good. Overall we had a good relaxing day.
Once we were back at the boat we ate at the buffet and then my husband passed out in the cabin....he had a little too much of Costa Maya!
I took the kids to Camp Carnival and I went to the casino. That'll teach him I thought!
I played roulette for about an hour...doing well until they switched dealers...you know that had to be it!
We missed dinner that night and went to bed early again.
Day 4 we woke up in Cozumel. We left our son on the boat this time. (I know it sounds horrible but I felt more comfortable leaving him than dragging him all over Cozumel...he got a lot of stares being blonde and blue-eyed!) We took a taxi to Chakanaab Park and did the dolphin swim. We prepaid on dolphin discovery's website and all went well. We had a lot of fun with the dolphins, watched the video, took another taxi to Paradise beach (Chakanaab was very nice but rocky leading into the water), hung out there and returned to port. We ate lunch at Carlos and Charlies. The barbaque shrimp was AWESOME!
We returned to boat and watched as we pulled away from Cozumel. We later found out that they left two girls there. They WILL leave you! We found out from people who knew them that they were flying home at their own expense. We got ready and went to dinner again, hung out at the disco with our new friends for a while before going back to the cabin.
Bingo. Pool. Nap with son. We went to the show before dinner and we loved it, my son especially. We took my daughter with us the last night at dinner and she barely ate anything they served!
She's used to macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets!!
She loved sitting with the grownups though! We took her back to camp and we watched the late night comedy...so-so funny...mostly about boobs and sexual stuff.
Disembarkation was a nightmare. We chose not to take our own luggage off the boat. BIG mistake. We were the last deck they let off and my son was a total whine bag!
Overall we had a great time and can't wait to go again!!!! 8)
If there is anything I didn't cover just ask! I love talking about it!
