Hello....Carnival use to travel to Arubal, but they know longer have Aruba on their itentenaries, not sure why because Aruba is MY Favorite island to visit. I've heard that it's too costly (gasoline) for Carnival to travel there so they cut it from their itentenaries completly. Royal Caribbean and Princess cruise-liners still go to Aruba....I will be on the Crown Princess in October and I am happy to say that I will be re-visitng Aruba again! Happy cruising!!!

I would guess they don't port at Aruba anymore because of the "Holloway" incident. Just a guess....

I wonder how long until Carnival starts to go back to Aruba? How long until the Holloway issue blows over?

I was told that from my PVP with Carnival. I would not be suprised at all if it's true.

OK, how about this, Carnival Corporation owns both Carnival and Holland America. I am looking at a HAL cruise in Feb. next year and get this, it stops in Aruba. I really don't think this is a safety issue unless they are just thinking Carnival has a younger crowd and would therefore be in more danger????

How About This,

I just searched on the Vacations to go web sight to see what cruise lines are scheduled to visit Aruba, they are;

Celebrity
Crystal
Cunard
Disney
Holland America
Princess
Royal Caribbean
Windjammer
Windstar

Not sure how many are owned by the Mother Carnival Corporation but this is interesting indeed.

WOW
There must be another reason then that Carnival does not sail there.

Maybe they just change the ports so they don't get stale to everyone!

Could be but why would you take a port like Aruba away when it is such a beautiful place? I could understand Belieze but not Aruba!

As much as some may believe, the Natalie Holloway issue had not impact on tourism whatsoever. Ms. Holloway was an unfortunate victim of her own foolishness. Soo sad but simple just too bad. Ms. Holloway was not kidnapped from a bar or club. She willingly went off with three young men she did not know in a strange city. That is a no-brainer anywhere. I can only imagine how many rules she knowingly broke that evening well before she never turned up again.

Carnival stopped traveling to Aruba because of the fuel issue. The only ship going to Aruba was the Destiny and, because it sails from PR, there is not a lot of wiggle room to raise the fare to offset the higher fuel costs. Henc, don't travel that far.

Carnival does not allow victims of self-misadventure that occurs on their own ships to determine what they do so there is no way that the untimely disappearance of Ms. Holloway would cause Carnival to make such a decision.

Good fine Bill. It is my point. Carnival owns HAL, Princess, Cunard, Windstar. If it was b/c of Holloway, why not re-direct all of the ships. There are plenty of young people on Princess and the crowd on Windstar ships are a bit more adventurous.

It is a $$$ issue. The Destiny cannot command a high enough fare to justify the extra distance and fuel expense.

You may be on to something on the fuel cost as the other lines owned by Carnival Corp. are a little pricier and can charge more.

We did the Destiny to Aruba a few years back and loved the ports. So we had to pay more to go with RCI out of PR in January if you want those ports.

My BF's parents own a 3 week timeshare there. So they go every year for the last 18 years. The Holloway case had no bearing on the island and tourism was never affected.

Anyway, there is a ship and its not a big one, that does arrive in the morning, stays overnight & leaves the following afternoon. It's not a big ship & its not a major cruise line. It's actually kinda small. Wish I remembered the name of it.
