Default Can you wear flip flops in the dining room?

I am a male and was wondering if that is ok or not, I am sure formal night the answer is no, but the other 4 nights would be nice... 1 less pair of shoes to pack.

I wouldn't wear them in the dining room. it is dressy casual / resort wear.
except on formal nights of course.

You could wear them for open breakfast and lunch in the dining room but it would definately not be appropriate for dinner. Non formal nights would be Docker type pants, collared shirt, polo or button down and shoes...tennis, topsiders, loafers, etc.

A nice pair of leather sandels, give it the miami vice look. No problem I have done this for years. Hawaii shirt with white silk pants and leather sandels are very comphy. Flip flops would be alittle tacky. JMO

Think of the dining room as a 4 or 5 star restruant, We dine there for the experience of it all.... To hear someone walk by in flip flops making that flop sound would just be wrong.... I wouldn't do it for breakfast or lunch, you always go to the buffet dressed any old way..... They lay the cloth knapkin on your lap, flip flops just don't belong...

I have to say as long as you dress nice not many people are going to be looking at your feet.

Also I think it depends on your style. For the 20's something crowd of guys the look of polo, dress pants and flip flops is in. Carla

Well, I was going to reply with something snappy and curt but I thought better of it. At least wear socks if you do.

It wasn't anything bad, just juvenile. Sometimes, in my mind, I am just 15.

Personally, I think they should outlaw those stupid things. I dont want to see your ( not the poster ) crusty nasty feet. You should always wear a closed toe shoe where hot food is being served/prepared. Nothing like having hot soup spilled on your foot and have no protection.

Please, no flip flops.....except on the beach.

Thanks

Tim

I have worn nice leather sandels on all of my cruises and have never felt out of place. And yes, I always wear socks.. Even on the beach.

Hey, I've got some socks to go with those flip flops! The toes are individually covered (like a glove does with your fingers). I'll loan them to you, watchn! Michael, do you think it's a problem that they also play "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" if something rubs the activation button? I can see it now...watchn heading down the aisle of the dining room in flip flops, toe socks and all the way having his socks sing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" to all the other passengers! 8)

If you are gonna wear socks, forget the sandals / flops. Just wear shoes. Yee-gads

You mean ugly flip-flops are now a fashion statement for men?? Please don't follow the crowd, make your own fashion statement. There is nothing uglier than flip-flops on men or women regardless of age. And, they definitely don't belong in the formal dining room at dinner. I have to laugh when I go to Disney World at all the people trying to walk in flip-flops without falling on their face. I wonder what kind of foot problems these people are going to have later on in life? Why do people wear them? Inexpensive? Convenient? they sure are ugly.

Well, in MHO, socks with any kind of sandals is worse than any flip flops ever made. But I suppose these are just our opinions.

I can't stand those thingys that go inbetween my toes on any kind of thong-type sandal. They sure make some beautiful styles for women but I can't buy them for that reason.
To answer the OP's question, as liberal as I am about some things, flip-flops in the dining room......nah.

sorry, just my opinion. I like sandals but would never wear socks with them. Biggest reason I don't use golf sandals.

TimRuth, you read my mind.

In fact, I just wrote a blog on myspace about men and pedicures.

Men, if you are going to wear sandals, get a pedicure or AT LEAST use a little lotion! I agree, there is nothing worse than nasty, crusty male feet (or female for that matter).

Flip flops in the dining room. Nope. Even with nice feet.
