Default Do I have to tip anyone if my tips are already prepaid?

I was reading on another topic where they said that some people dont go to dinner in the dineing room b/c they dont want to tip, isnt that why I prepay my tips? Who exactally is included in my prepaid tips? My TA told me that included everyone. Is this true? I dont want to be stiffing anyone if I am assuming all the tips are already paid.

Thanks,

Danielle

Your pre-paid tips cover your cabin steward, both waitstaff and head waiter. You don't have to tip anyone more unless you want to because they gave you exceptional service, above and beyond. If you order room service, they are not covered under your prepayment. We give them $2-3 with each delivery.

OK, that is what I thought until I read that link where they said some people dont eat in the dinning room b/c they are to cheap to tip, that was weird b/c I was like "Well arent the tips already paid?" I wanted to make sure I wasnt misunderstanding anything. And I didnt want to look like a cheap ass if I didnt tip, lol... Or better yet if my whole table didnt tip b/c I am the team leader and I am releying the information to my group so that wouldnt be good if we were supposed to tip and I said we werent. Thanks again.

on the same subject, what about meals you don't eat?

For my 4-day cruise, there will be
sunday: lunch and dinner
monday - 3 meals
tuesday - 3 meals
wed - 3 meals
thursday - breakfast

So that is 12 meals total.

I'm planning to have room service breakfast every day so that means I will be tipping the room service person, so that brings down the meals outside of the room to 8.

Based on the menus and my son's picky eating, we will likely only eat one lunch and one dinner in the dining room, and eat at the buffets or lido deck restaurants (pizza, deli, etc.) all other lunches and dinners. Are these considered in the tips or are the tips only meant for the dining rooms?

So how do I adjust this for tips at the end of my cruise?

I will of course give my steward a tip based on service quality.

You don't "adjust" the tips. All those other folks who work in the other dining option locations share in the waitstaff pool.

Except for room service.

Thanks, I wasn't sure about that! I don't want to deny anyone their tips, as I understand that's mostly how they make a living. But I will definitely have the amount adjusted down for the breakfasts, as I'll be ordering room service and tipping that person.

I agree about don't "adjust" the tips. You'll find the staff deserves their tips, and probably even more than what is allotted. Besides you have mentioned several times on these boards that your father is paying for your cruise, so why even start thinking about "nickle and diming" the staff???

"mostly how they make a living"....it's probably the only way....[/b]

Your "adjustment amounts to $7.33 for the ENTIRE cruise.

($5.50/day for dining staff /3 meals per day * 4 breakfasts)

You can go to the Pursure's desk & have your tips adjusted down or up after you board the ship... The standard amount is $10.00 a day per passenger ($140 for a 7 day cruise for 2) & is taken out of your account when you do the check-in process....
For example you could reduce that automatic tip amount down to $100 for a 7 day cruise & give extra tips to those that give you great service....

If you want to allow someone to receive extra in their tips, give them cash.

We don't tip anyone daily. We just do the auto tip at the end.

Dawson, the tips are already prepaid with Carnival. If you want to give someone extra tips; I give the Waitstaff cash at the last dinner seating, I give the Cabin Steward some cash at the first of the cruise to ensure their attention, and I give the Room Service staff cash upon the delivery of any service.

Hope this helps

You will do fine. Before you know it, you will be on here helping other people before they cruise!
