Go and relax and leave the stress of everyday life @ the port. Enjoy the 4 days of R & R 8)

Stop by Fat Tuesday's and get you an " Attitube Adjustment drink".
And Enjoy
I'll be heading there in a few months myself.

Happy Sailing to all ;
David

Regarding the shopping in Cozumel, I have never read of a specific place to shop. The best advice I can give you is to have an idea of what you want and how much you would pay for it here. There are so many shops!

Be very careful buying stones. If you cannot tell an VS1 I from a I1 J you are better off buying in the USA.

That too good of a deal to be true is exactually what you will get. Some of these shops show you one thing and then do a quick swap with cheaper sones or even zerks.

Also, anyone can stamp 18k on piece of gold coated metal.

What are you going to do if you get ripped-off? Go back next week and demand your $$$ back?

I bring my loop with me and a diamond tester. (My uncle was a "stones" man in NYC.)

Go to the Shopping Talk, usually the first at sea day around 9:30am.

They will most likely steer you to Diamonds International, fairly trustworthy and they have offices in the U.S., right next door is Pancho's Back Porch, great place for lunch.

Above all don't sweat the small stuff and have a great time!

For a last minute tip - As I always tell everyone (if they have not thought of it) if you are flying to your embarkation port bring a complete change of clothes, neccessary toiletries, camera, etc in a carry on in case your checked luggage lands elsewhere. It happens more often than we would like to think !

If you are a drinker, stop in Pancho's for a nice margarita at the pier, but be careful - they are potent.

As for shopping, make sure you get OUTSIDE the pier area. Get a taxi to the "real" town.

And most of all - have fun!

Those port shops give the cruise line a kickback on what they sell. The majority of the time, I have found not to trust what they say. Sometimes there is a safe bet in there, but no real "deals" on stones. You get what you pay for.

On our last cruise, I got ripped at two shops recommended by Princess. The tour buses even stopped at the shops! On shop even had a TV spot than ran several times a day and was hosted by a Princess employee. Should have seen it coming.

When you are stuck in a line, Just remember pretty soon you will be eating lunch on board a Cruise Ship. What could be better?

Compare the prices in port with those in the gift shop on board the ship. I have found that in many cases you can buy on board cheaper than in port.
Also on board they have the unconditional guarantee, where you have up to one year to send the jewelry back and get a full refund, no questions asked. This isn't a gimmick, they are true to their word. Last year we bought our son a very nice Tag Huer watch for his college graduation. He cruised after us and not knowing we bought him one, he bought a Tag also, just a little cheaper. When we gave him his graduation watch, he liked it much better and sent the one he bought back, and promptly recieved a full refund.

Hope this helps.

Great tip !

All too true! This just happened to me last week on a business trip to California. I arrived Sunday night, my luggage arrived Tuesday morning! For years I have traveled with my toiletries (especially contact case and solution) and an extra change of clothes in my carry on case. Interestingly enough i have never needed them until last week!

Perhaps it was a reminder for me and my family as we are taking 3 separate long distance trips this summer!
