Default SPF in Bahamas

Hi, I'm leaving to go on my first cruise to the bahamas tomorrow! I'm not sure what SPF factor I should use while I'm there...I tan easily and I have a base tan already from tanning indoors and have been to the beach a few times this week and only used an SPF 4 and didn't burn. I know the sun is a lot stronger in the Bahamas so I am wondering if an SPF 15 will be enough or should I use 30? I still want to get tan while I am there so I don't want to block out all the sun! If anyone could give me some advice I would greatly appreciate it!

I would guess if you already have a base tan #15 should be fine.

I am a 45 kind of guy.

I have had skin issues in the past.

I am with Brian - after having more than a dozen skin cancers removed, nothing less than an SPF 45 will suffice for me.

If you want to block out all of the sun use 45 but if you want to tan use 15. My wife used 15 and I used 45 but I don't car to get sun.

Even with the 45 I still get some sun which both the dermatologist's and I both agree I don't need.

there is now 70 spf stuff you can get, and I always aim for the highest. Sun exposure other than what you get going from your house to your car to the store, etc.. is not necessary and causes premature aging, wrinkling, and cancer. in case you haven't heard, it stopped being "cool" to get tanned about 15 years ago.
