Default Ecstasy Room Safe

Been reading threads about using credit/membership cards to open room safes....the Ecstasy had room safes where you choose your own code to open and close the safe. No need for cards. Easy to use.

That is true Cheryl, but newer ships require the strip.

Thanks! I'll remember that for our next cruise. Is there a way of finding out which ships are considered "new" or which safes need cards?

I have never heard of anyone talking about it, except those one the Ecstasy. Maybe the Holiday.

We're sailing the Inspiration soon, and IMO that's an older ship. I'll take my trusty "Craftsman Club" card in case the safe needs it, and if not it'll just live in the safe with the rest of my stuff.

See y'all aboard,

Ken

Ok, since we will be on the Holiday in December, can you tell me how this works with the safe and a credit card? Sometimes you have to draw me a picture.

papa2cool;
All you have to use is some type of card that has a magnetic strip on the back. It can be any card. Just so it has the strip. You just swipe it like a credit card on the safe and it will unlock it. You have to use the same card to lock it and unlock it. Hope this helps.

Gary,
Thanks! You drew me a pretty good picture! I was trying to understand about using a credit card and thought "Oh great, more numbers to remember" but you explained it so an old fogey like me could understand! Thanks for the quick reply.

From the sound of it, I think I like the Ecstasy safe more!
My husband and I knew the 4-digit code, but teenager didn't. And whether DH and I were together or apart we could get into the safe.

I was hoping Conquest would have the same - UGH!

Well hopefully I am wrong and I will be just fine with the CC safe on the Conquest
