Default limits on sail & sign card....?

I assume my son and I will both get sign & sail cards - can I put a limit on how much money he can "charge" to it each day? I'm going to get him a soda card and he will likely want to play video games in the arcade... get snacks throughout the day. He's 14. Just curious if I can put a specific limit (i.e. $50) limit on what he can charge to the card each day. Thanks!

Used to be able to pay cash up front on the S&S but don't know if you still can. Has been just a credit card number you have to give. Other than that, I know of no way to do that.

We used cash for our sail and sign card account and took extra cash and kept it in the safe in the room. According to Carnivals website you can still use cash. I hope so, because I don't do credit cards and I don't want to use my bank check card.

Yes, I believe you can still use cash. I was in the travel agency and I overheard one of the customers asking his travel agent that he does not use credit cards and the travel agent told him that he can put cash down.

I just returned from a 4-day cruise a few weeks ago, and I put CASH on my S&S card. When you check in at the terminal and when they give you, your S&S card you go right to the pursurs desk on the ship and give them cash, and they put it on your card. If you are lucky like me, at the end of your cruise if you still have money on your card, they will give it back to you in the sum of cash or issue you a check. Happy Sailing!

i know that you can have no charging , but not sure about a limit. I suppose you could put a small cash down for kids and not link your credit cards to theirs.

We had "no charge" sail and sign cards for our kids. They brought lots of quarters from home for video games, and anything else they needed, they had to bring us along to buy it. We did get the soda cards, though. There's really not much, except for the video games, for kids to buy.

Default yes, you can limit family members' spending:

Yes, we were told at the embarkation desk if we wanted, we could put a limit on my teen's spending by setting a limit on their Sign and Sail cards to be charged to our account. That amount could be added to at any time during the cruise.

I have been wondering about the video games. Does anyone know, do they use the sail and sign cards, or quarters, like the slot machines in the casino?

thanks everyone - if they only take quarters in the video games, is there a machine that gives change there? Or should I plan to bring my own rolls of quarters?

as I recall I think there is a machine in the arcade; I just don't recall if it gives you tokens for the games or quarters for the games

if you need quarters a quick way is to put a 1, 5, 10 or 20 in a quarter slot machine, then cash out and you got change....

The token machine in the arcade will take quarters, or folding money and convert it to tokens. It's supposed to use your sail and sign card too, but I couldn't get mine to work. This was on the Pride in April.
