Default did your cell phone alarm work?

did anyone use their cell phone alarm? I don't want to have to bring a separate alarm clock; I'd like to use the one on my cell phone, which will be activated for international roaming for the week of the cruise.

I wanted to make sure it works onboard though. Does it?

thanks everyone - I just don't like to trust room service calls or anything else, and I don't want to miss our morning excursions!

Just a quick warning. Some cell phones automatically reset their time based on current time zone they are in. Just want to make sure you don't miss the boat or anything Carla

Yes, mine is one of those that automatically resets itself according to the local time zone that I am in. I don't take it on a cruise though.

To play it safe use the room phone for your wake-ups!

Yeah, this is true. I bought a small alarm clock with me when I went to the Bahamas but I noticed my cell phone automaticall changed time with the time zone but the ship stayed on Eastern time since we left from Florida I guess. So ships time was not always in sync with my cellphone.

okay, what do you do with the phone? Can you automatically have it call you at a pretermined time - do you leave a wake up call and someone calls you?

Its a wakeup call just like in a hotel. Just contact the pursers desk the night before and they will set it up for any time you want

thanks, but given all the above, I never trust anyone to wake me up, I'll bring a small travel alarm. I do NOT want to miss the early excursions we have.!

We used the cabin phone for the wake up call. After dialing the wake up call number than you dial the time you want to be woken up. Such as 0730 for 7:30 am. We had to us military time. It worked fine for us when we needed to get up early.

And the time on my phone was also off from EST. Verizon.

Hi Michelle,

This is really the best option. We program the phone for a wake-up call, but bring an alarm clock set to about 5 minutes later. Better safe than sorry !

For what it is worth, we did exactly what Fern just said above. We set up a wake-up call and also set our travel alarm clock for 5 minutes later. That way we always have a back-up alarm!

Good Luck, Michelle! We'll be sailing on the Sensation the next week after you! I'll be anxious to read your reviews!

So how does that work, if time changes does the boat stay the same time from the origonal port we leave (which is New Orleans)? So when they say come back for 7:00 pm and we are in Mexico is that 7:00 pm Mexico time or is that 7:00 pm New Orleans time (where we left from)?

Thanks,

Danielle

Thanks Sara and Fern, I'll program the wake up call and I"ll also set my PDA alarm a few minutes later, just in case. I will set it to ship time. It has a nice loud alarm.

DBXX:

You will stay on Ship's Time. In fact, they will remind you repeatedly before you go ashore that you are to stay on ship's time or you will be left behind. The C.D. will joke about the fact that there are always passengers who ask someone at the local bar for the time and they will give them local time (not ship's time) and those passengers will be seen running and waving after the ship pulls out!

Have Fun!
