I have heard that people take their own soft drinks on board. Are there ice machines? Or do you have to get a cup and ice from the bar to have your own drink?
it took some wandering around, but we found it.... there was a pop machine and ice machine on our floor. The pop was the same price as buying it on deck in a bottle.

Do like I do when you can't find something ... ask a teenager! They know everything and I mean that nicely!

There are ice machines (found some on the starboard side of the ship, forward). On one cruise, my daughter spoke to the room steward and told him that they use a lot of ice so he brought in a small cooler for them to use and kept it filled with ice.
I have never seen a pop machine on the cruise ship - however, I have never looked for one. Ice can be found anywhere on the ship. How much pop can you bring - do you know?
I thought that Carnival changed their policy and no longer allows carry ons for pop and bottled water?
Nope they changed it again. I am hearing on here that people are taking on a couple 6 packs without a problem. There are some posts under other threads that are talking about this.

As I understand it, the new policy states: A reasonable amount may be brought aboard. What is a reasonable amount to me, may not be a reasonable amount to Carnival. I haven't sailed since the policy change, but I used to see people bringing 1 or 2 CASES aboard with them. I'm sure these people are the reason Carnival clamped down on the "carry aboard" soda. I sail again pretty soon, and I'll take a look around, or ask them what they consider reasonable, and report when I return.
a reasonable amount was their old policy - so it sounds like they just reversed the new rule due to complaints...which works for me
Did they just change the Soda-Carry on rule rule? We sailed 5/28, brought a 36-pack of diet Pepsi and two cases (25 bottles) of bottled water for our family of 4 and nothing was said.

Carnival Ecstasy 2007
My son and I sailed May 24 on the Ecstasy. We took two 12 packs of soda and nothing was said. We had a small cooler with us and the room steward emptied the water and refilled it with ice twice a day when he made up our room. He also brought us some plastic cups to use instead of the little glasses in the room.
I called Carnival customer service prior to leaving to check if our two 12 packs were okay or excessive and was told it was fine.
We packed our sodas in a small rolling carryon bag and carried the small empty cooler. Also, the empty carryon came in handy on the way back to pack all our purchases from Cozumel along with the bottle of Godiva Chocolate Liqueur I bought on the ship!
