Default Bar Prices On Board Plz???

Hey guys and gals,

Around 4 years ago the family and I went on the inspiration and it was a great time had by all and we are now going on the sensation on the 5th of August but id like to know what the prices for alcoholic drinks are again as i can't recall what we was paying back on the inspiration.

Id ideally like to know how much a beer is? A Jack Daniels and coke? and a Vodka Coke also plz?

Thank in advance and sorry about the random questions,

Andrew

Hi Andrew.. basically your going to pay the same prices as you would at a nice bar. Buckets of beer are your best bargain. $15 for 4 beers. You end up paying premium bar stock prices plus tip 15% on each drink.. so add that in.

If you like rum, get the drink of the day. It's usually a rum drink and runs about $3.95, alot cheaper this way than ordering a drink of choice at the bar.

I have the bar menu from the inspiration; it is at home. So do me a favor remind me via PM and I will post the costs for you etc.. I don't get home from work until about 7:00 pm or so.

The foo-foo's are significantly cheaper on Carnival than other vacation destinations. The drinks run between $5 and $7 after tax? and tip. Do we pay tax? We aren't on any land).

Anyway, they are all pretty well priced. Skip the souvenir glass unless you just have to have one for your at home collection.

First you only pay tax when in US Ports

From the "Beverage Services" menu that I picked up on Inspiration in May:

Speciality Cocktails; $4.50 (in regular glass)
Frozed Exotic Cocktails: $5.25 (7.75 in souvenir glass)
Mixed Drinks Vary from $4.75 - 9.75 - the better the brand the more expensive: i.e. Rum & Coke with Captain Morgan $5.25 but made with Bacardi 8 it costs $6.25.

Vodka & Whatever: $4.75 made with Smirnoff; but Grey Goose or Ketel One will cost you $6.50.

Patron Tequila is the most expensive: $9.75 (but sooooo good).

Martins: basic shelf brand: 6.50 and goes up to 8.95 for the "Ultra Premium Martinis"

Beers: $4.75 for Domestic 16oz beers as well as Corona, Heinekan, Amstel and Red Stripe.

Hope this helps for planning your budet

But Corona is $4.75

Wish my scanner was workign so I can scan this in

I was in Atlantic City, NJ (Casino/Broadwalk) and sat at one of the casino's tiki bars on the beach. One watered down ice filled foo-foo was $9.00 . Since it was so expensive and not laced with nearly enough spirits, I just purchased the one. Total purchase $9.00. Had they given me a decently prepared beverage at a better price ($6-7), I would have happily sat there ran up a decent tab, eventually getting hungry and ordering some food. But they are greedy and charged me $9 for a glass of ice and that was all they made off of me. But I still occupied the table for over an hour.

On NCL America, I purchased a Bahama Mama at the sailaway party, it was $9.25. Because the drinks were so expensive, I did very little casually foo-foo drinking during the cause of the cruise.

Carnival's profit comes in quantity of beverages sold. Since Carnival buys their alcohol in bulk direct from the distilleries, they are paying next to nothing per bottle. What they do is much smarter than most vacation destinations. They price their alcoholic beverages very reasonably which encourages their passengers to purchase cocktails without much thought. Even if I don't want it or don't plan to finish the drink, for $5.00, what the heck, Bartender, please bring me another one of these!!!

Remember to add 15% to the cost of all drinks.

Thank you all very kindly for your replies so far ;-)

yeah im thinking beers will be the way although cocktails are always good on a cruise, i remeber our last cruise on the inspiration sitting in the jacuzzi with the sun out in full force and us with a cocktail in one hand, it was pure bliss ;-)

Ive not heard of a foo-foo though sorry although i may just have to try it!

Whilst in the casino though im sure i shall drink a few JD an cokes to set the scene, may even get a Martini, shaken not stirred of course

I really appreciate that price list although will it be the same price on all carnival cruise ships? they seemed pretty much like fancy bar prices over here in London so should be fine and after i clear the casino out of there money it'll be happy days(i have most prob just jinxed myself now but oh well i shall have fun nonetheless)

When ya say there is a 15% charge on top for gratuity i gather, is this on each drink or each order, i.e if i buy 2 or 3 drinks would i pay 15% on each of those drinks on top or just for the order?

Thanks once more, i can't wait to go to be honest ;-)

when people refer to the "foo-foo" drink they usually mean the fancy frozen drink of the day - you got to try at least one! my personal favorite is the Bahama Mama, but lots of people like the one called Miami Vice.

the price list is pretty much same on each carnival ship that I have been on (Imagination, Fascincation and Inspiration - I have not been on the newer ships, but I don't see why it would be more expensive from one ship to the next; however, I did notice that prices may fluctuate in amounts (by nickels and dimes) depending on which "bar" you order from or the size of the cocktail glass may very. For instance, if you order a drink while at a show, you will be charged the same, but the drinks are smaller (this is just mixed drinks). We usually order our drinks before going in to the shows.

the tip is paid on each order: so if you order one drink you are going to get taxed the 15% of the cost of one drink; if you order rounds for everyone at once; you are going to get charged for the tip on the total of the drinks.

Doh! silly me, thanks for the info msblackjack, i will indeed be trying a few foo-foos in that case, Bahama Mama will be tried and tested for sure along with Miami Vice ;-)

I thought it would be 15% on each round, thanks to clarify though ;-)

I think I read somewhere that you can get refills in the souveneir glass. Do you pay full price with the refill?

And how much bigger is the souvenier glass?

I wish I knew how to spell souvenier.

Hahahahahahaha!!! You are so funny.

I think you save $1 if you get a refill in the souvenir glass and they are perhaps 1/3 more drink than a regular glass. I usually will order my first drink of the cruise on the Lido Deck in the souvenir glass just cause. After that, all of my drinks are in a regular glass.

For an extra special treat, order a double in the dance club. It is twice the price of a regular foo-foo drink but comes in what must be a 24 ounce tumbler. I challenge anyone to drink two of those.
