Default What was your final Sign-n-Sail tab?

Wondering on what a general average final Sign-n-Sail bill? 7 day cruise. Will be drinking daily (not excessively just merely a bucket of beer or so and then 3 or 4 foo foo drinks a day and a bottle of wine with dinner) along with two teenage daughters and their soda pop fix's. What were some of your final tabs?

I plead the fifth - actually my tab looked like I bought several Fifth's.....

The worse was a 5 day cruise; it was close to $2000.00; it included 3 people; and shore excursions for me and family members, photographs, spa treatments and I purchased a birthday present for my self (diamond earrings); I would guestimate that about 600-750 was for alcohol.

With some casino, no excursions and no extra shopping on board... for a 5 day cruise we ended up with a $300 tab... that included tips.. buckets of beers and some mixed drinks.. no all day drinking and we brought our own wine to dinner each night.

The rule of thumb is $100 a day.

The foo-foo drinks will run out about $4-7 each. I am not sure about the bucket of beer as we are not drinkers. Hope that helps, Carla

I cruise solo. My last cruise's tab was $1,396 for one person for an 8 day cruise. 90% of that was for the sins of the flesh (gambling and drinking), I didn't purchase any pictures, never went to the spa and did not book any excursions thru the ship. I basically just spent 8 days being wicked and wretched!!

However, if you plan to get a few foo-foo's in the evening, a "bucket of beer or two" during the day, a bottle of wine for dinner, soda cards for the "under 18" set and other miscellaneous, expect to spend roughly $300 per day.

A bucket of beer is $18 for 4 beers and I have seen people go through several buckets in one afternoon on the Lido Deck. Wine is approximately $30-50 a bottle at dinner and the foo-foo's sell for $5-7 each.

Oh well!!! It is a vacation.

Default wine

I want to bring my own wine to dinner everynight. How do I do that. I know they charge a corking fee. Just bring the wine on board with me and then just bring it to the dinning room?

By the way we just got back from a 5 day and with about 4 drinks of the day and a bottle of wine or bucket of beer at night and also we both had coke cards and we bought all of our pictures and a little casino money cost us $500. I try not to go over 100 a day.

The $100.00 a day estimate is pretty close estimate. UNLESS, you want , alot of pictures, spa treatments, diamonds, expensive shore excursions, and ect.

For the wife and I, Our S&S account usually is in the $800.00 -$900.00 range for the 2 of us, on a 7-day.( excluding the casino ) We don't count our pennies either. We do what we want, and drink what we want.

Happy Sailing to all;
David

The $100 a day will go out the window if you do excursions or purchase pictures or spa treatments.

One of my solo cruiser buddies on my cruise had a tab of over $2,000 well before the cruise was over because he got addicted to the spa treatments. Either that or fell in love with his treatment lady!! Hahahaha

You can hand carry a bottle per person right on to the ship no problem. We did that last cruise. Worked out great and they didn't charge us corkage fee. yep.. just like you said.

Thank you. I thought it was just me. How did the other couple get away with only $500 for 5 days of just about everything. I want to know their secret.

We carried on the large bottles since we were serving 7 of us at the table. One little bottle just doesn't cut it.. You can cary in multiple bottles if you like. We carried in two of the smaller bottles since they didnt' have the larger ones..

since I don't drink alcohol or gamble, and my son will have the soda card ('ll stick with water from the water fountains that I'll put into my own insulated mug or the free drinks like iced tea, coffee, etc.), all I expect to have after a 4-day cruise is a few hundred dollars from photos we may buy from the ship photographer, some ship store souvenirs the day before the cruise ends and any sundries I need or run out of and the tips, of course.

I would love to bring my own bottle of wine or liquor onboard the cruise, but I am flying from NY to Puerto Rico, do you think they would confiscate the liquor? I know I wouldn't be able to carry it on the plane with me, if they are so fussy about 3 oz of shampoo or cond. So how would I pack it without it breaking?

Ours was 1,700.00 for the 5 days.

Not a lot of alcohol or gambling on ours though, about 200.00 I'd say.

Pictures 180
Excursions 120
Salon 800... My wife fell in love with the salon. Hair, facial, massages (yes, plural), and salon products... ouch!
Gift Shop 200
Auto-tips 200

Default The Budget Sign and Sail card...

We are a budget-minded family of 4, non-drinkers bordering on boring! We toted along our own water and Pepsi's...We had a tons of fun and our Sign and Sail card was $400 and some change for the 4 of us on a 5-day. $200 of that was the tip. Our purchases included: several photos (which I planned and budgeted for), 3 spin classes w/tip, and my husband's underwear and dress sox since he forgot his! Oh, and on the last day during the sales, my husband surprised me with a watch as a thank you for planning such a nice vacation for the family. And he got himself some cologne.

The other expenses were done in port. We paid for two excursions off the ship by private companies with cash. One excursion got canceled due to rain so Plan B included a round trip taxi ride, bucket of beer for Dad, Virgin Daquari's, and lunch on the Cozumel beach-far less than the cost of the canceled excursion.

Since we like to cruise as often as we can, we usually keep our final bill fairly small. Of course, we have the gratuities on it, and I usually spend 30-50 doing on board shopping. We don't purchase drinks, rarely purchase pictures, and just try to be thrifty so we can afford to take another cruise as soon as possible!!

Happy cruising to everyone!!!

OMG you guys got me worried here, lol... I guess it is a good thing that we are getting the "Liquor card" for our group, @ $200 pp I thought that was a bit steep but I guess I would rather pay $400 for the both of us than be surprised at the end.

We tend, also, to be on the thrifty side when it comes to purchases on the ship. The wife will usually buy a nice piece of jewelry. Not expensive, but nice, though. We've done all the pictures on previous cruises, so maybe one group pic or something like that does the trick now. The wife will get the drink of the day once, maybe twice a day, and I don't drink. The casino has the "cards stacked against you" since they're not regulated by any gaming agency, plus, we live 45 minutes from all the casinos we want, and can gamble whenever we want.

Our cruises are for relaxing and just hanging out on deck, etc. The all night partying scene ended for us about 15 years ago, but, we still have the memories. Our S$S bill is usually under $500, for a 7 day cruise, and a little less for the 5 dayers. Like the previous poster, we can cruise more often if we hold our expenditures down. Oh yeah, did I mention? We do Disney every year or every other year. That's a big ticket expense.

OMG I would NEVER think of using my credit card to gamble--it's meant for shopping, spa services, and booze!!!!

I spent, if you include shore excursions, just under $1000 for ONE person! I spent $120 in the spa, probably $200 in the shops on board (lots of knickknacks!), and at least $100 ir not more on perfume/jewelry. I must also mention that we did call home from the ship at a whopping $7/minute--those two calls were $110. I did spend some on bingo, free cruise raffle tickets, and the rest on drinks.

I spent, er, donated $350 to the casino while onboard the Victory. Meanwhile my dear mother didn't donate at all, she spent probably $60-80 and won $1800!!!!!

In order for the Liquor Card to be worth it, you each have to drink 5 foo-foo's or 7 beers each day. That is a lot of drinking each and every day of the cruise. If you take a day off, the next day you have to drink 10 foo-foos to make up for it. Hahahahaha

You may be able to do it but I am willing to bet most people that purchase the liquor cards just like the soda cards do not actual drink enough of either to make it worth it. However, it does eliminate the concern for running up high drink tabs.

I would like to purchase a "slot machine" card if one ever becomes available.

My worry is my DH can sit and drink a case of beer each night that he drinks and certainly if he is with his friends that all drink as well. And they will all be with us on the cruise so really I dont think I will drink my $200 worth but I certainly think he can drink his and mine, lol... If he can drink 24 beers at home I know he can do that on vacation for sure. I dont think he will be drinking that everyday but my worry is we will be up all day and night and that makes for steady drinking. And I know we wont be drinking on port days but I am sure when we get back on the boat we will. I guess we will get it this time around and judge from there, we have never cruised before so I really have nothing to compare it to. So I will save our receipts if we still get them with the card and see how much we actually do drink. Does anyone know if you still get a receipt with the open bar card?

Mine for a 5 night (2 of us) was about $200. We booked one excursion on the ship and had some wine on formal night and the cheap margaritas. I bought a couple of t shirts and few other souvenirs.

WOW! This is a great post with very good information. Thanks for posting the drink prices. This will help me with my budgeting. I like to have a few drinks but, I like a 0 balance credit card MUCH MORE. I may just have to put together a Blackjack/Craps gambling strategy to pay for our drinks.

Hahahaha in the case of your hubby, a liquor card sounds like an excellent investment. Perhaps Carnival will rethink it after him and his friends get finished.

After a 7 nights on board my wife and I got the bill to about 1100.00. We each purchased a soda card, had the prepaid tips on there, $200 advance from the casino, a few drinks, a few pictures and a new watch for me. BUT after a great night in the casino on the last night... we were able to pay it all in cash and walk off the ship with more cash in our pocket then what we started out with. Good things can happen in the casino!

I actually did that. Between my OBC, my cash, bingo winnings and modest slot machine gains, my $1,396 ended up being $105 charged to my credit card.
