Default Platinum Card

Does anyone know at what point you go from Gold to Platinum?
Some Carnival agents say your 10th cruise will be Platinum others say your 11th.

As soon as you take your 10th cruise, you are considered Platinum no matter where/when or the length of this or any prior cruise as long as it's on a Carnival ship....

I was just about to post that it goes Platinum on cruise 11, but I went back and looked and you folks are absolutely correct. We too got the Platinum cards on cruise #10. It is really nice to walk almost directly onto the ship when embarking, and have an escort to walk you off the ship upon return to port. The other "Platinum" perks are nice as well.

See you aboard,

Ken

Does anyone know if cruises on other lines in the Carnival family count towards Platinum?

IRIS,

When you get your boarding documents after reaching Platinum, there is a note telling you to proceed to the VIP line/area for check in. The VIP lounge will handle checking you in and the Sail and Sign card issued for the cruise will be Platinum. It is correct, you do get Platinum on cruise #10. We enjoy the perks. It makes the embarkatation/debarkation so easy.

Thanks for responding so fast. It will be over 10 cruises for me, but the first one since they started the program. I will be leaving New York in August.

Hi Iris,

We have never cruised out of the Port in New York. Be sure and let us know how it goes. Which ship will you be taking?

Have a great cruise and congratulations on reaching Platinum. You know the last cruise we took in April, there were delays for people disembarking because another ship was having problems and was unable to sail out. It took longer than normal to dock the Conquest. Also, there was some kind of a Coast Guard Inspection going on with the Conquest crew. As a result, there were delays for those getting off the ship and for those getting ready to board. I have never seen the lines so long. We were able to bypass all of that and get on immediately. Some of the passengers were in the check-in line for over 3 hours. It made it difficult for many that had travelled a long distance that day. It made us appreciate the "Priority Boarding" perk. Thank you Carnival!

Happy Cruising!

Sherrie

Nope, sorry to tell you that only Carnival cruises count. The good thing is that all Carnival cruises count,,,,one day cruise to nowhere counts just like a 14 day European cruise does. Another thing,,,if you have anything to prove an early cruise,,even a picture of you boarding the ship, they will usually count it toward the next level. I found some old boarding passes on a bulletin board in my garage, and they counted these cruises for me. Those cruises were so old that they didn't even have the ships name on them, just the sail date, the cabin number, and the folio number. Carnival crossed them for me, and counted them toward Platinum.

Dang, I better hurry up and get more cruises booked. I have two and a third booked and a fourth waiting to be booked. I also plan/desire to do Alaska next summer, which would be five...

Hmm, maybe I'll get lucky and win the lottery tonight and can afford to goto Alaska in July of this year and then do a Panama Canal in August *BG*...that is if I my numbers are the ones that come up tonight *BG*

I would be platinum but it didn't count back in 1980 when I sailed the Mardi gras. I do have a picture - would that count? They told me it was only after a certain date reguardless (I can't remember the date). And I think it stinks that a one day cruise counts towards it just as much as a 14 day cruise. Oh well -- -life isn't fair. Just cruise and enjoy whether you have the red/white/blue; silver or platinum!

Default Platinum Status

We are booked on our 10th Carnival Cruise for April 2008 (unless we go again before then). Other than the VIP check in and debarkation, what are the other perks?

I can't remember all of the things but I'll tell you the ones I do and our favorites...

1. Yes, check in is great... Totally separate line (or in some Ports a private room) and then they walk you right onto the ship...no waiting in line...

2. Nice gifts in cabin upon arrival and everday such as.... Conceirge Tote Bag, personalized stationary (which we can do without) bottle of wine, fruit basket...

3. Your own line at the Pursers Desk so you don't have to wait on the long one!!

4. First off the ship if tendering (just show your Platinum Card)... or docked at the Port....

5. WE LOVE THE FREE LAUNDRY SERVICE.... there is a laundry bag in each cabin...if you need more than one, just ask for it and there is NO limit for the week.....

6. When they ask you which seating you want, you are guaranteed to get it... no wondering if/when or what time you'll be eating... LOVE THAT PERK TOO...

Thats all I can think of for now....

We had 8 cruises add (starting in 1982). Just went to our Profile on the Carnival website, went to the "cruise history" and then to the ADD a cruise link. They will contact you about what "proof" you need. We faxed them embarkation pictures for 7 of them and a regular Kodak picture for the first one along with a luggage tag (don't ask HOW we still had that??)

All cruises prior to 1990 must be added manually, but ALL are counted...so keep trying!!!

If you have a PVP who knows you, ask for their help.

Good luck!!
