Default Tortola - BVI - Restaurants

If you visited Tortola within the last 2 years, was there a special restaurant that you liked? If so, was it because of a certain food/price/scenery, etc?

The only things I ate was $1.00 worth of rice and peas from a little supermarket about a block from Cane Garden Bay beach (I walked). Then I came back to the beach and had a delicious lobster salad sandwich at one of the small restaurants on the beach. I ate them together. The rice was delicious as was the lobster salad. All together it was about $6.

Price wise , the lunch you had sounded very reasonable in price, especially for a lunch. :o

Yes, the sandwich was $4.95 or maybe $5.95 and the rice was $1.00. I had walked over to the supermarket b/c one of the men selling the coconut drinks on the beach told me they had good food. However, when i walked over there, none of it stuck my fancy. Therefore, I told the lady behind the counter to just give me some of the rice & peas. She gave me what must have been almost a pint for $1. I then walked back to the beach and when to the little bar/restaurant that sat right on the beach and ordered the sandwich. I sat at one of their tables in the sand and eat the rice with the sandwich. It was a nice little lunch. Enough to hold me until dinner on the ship. I also ordered a mango diagari(??). I watched the man, peel the mango, cut it up, drop it in the blender with ice and rum (and maybe something else). It was delicious. No syrup. Just fruit, ice and liquor.

IBCRUZIN, as I said it sounded very reasonable in price.

The mango daquari (?) sounded good, although I prefer the strawberry ones, and I doubt if I could get it there. I am HOOKED on the strawberry ones, as the first one I had, they made it with ice cream......FAT CITY, here I come, and I have always ask the bartender, or whoever could make it that way. Now I KNOW, I cannot get it on the beach that way, but it doesn't hurt to think about it anyway.

Why can't you get a strawberry daquari? I think you can probably get a strawberry one. In fact, if you are adament about the ice cream is you go to Garden Cane Bay, just purchase the ice cream from a vendor and walk it over to the bar. I am sure they will be more than happy to put your ice cream in your drink. Or, at worse, walk a block to the little supermarket. I know they have ice cream in there.

Well I may be able to get my strawberry daquari afterall. I don't know about carrying the ice cream, as it might melt before I get there. Well I guess I could get the daquari and then get the ice cream to put in it, as you said.

If you go to Cane Garden and really want ice cream in your daquari, there is a little shack on the beach that may sell ice cream I don't know. There is a small supermarket a short block (less than 5 minutes) away that does sell ice cream. You can get the ice cream first and then go to the bar and have them put it in the drink I am talking about a small half pint or pint sized brick of ice cream.

Your ice cream won't melt in the 3-4 minutes it takes to walk from the supermarket back to the beach with your ice cream.

Good luck.

Thanks for letting me know that I don't have to walk far, to get ice cream, if I want it in my "strawberry" (???) daquari. Yes, I know it sounds strange, but that is the way my son got me started at the Houston's Restaurant, and I've always wanted it that way since. Actually for a HOT 8) evening, it might taste pretty gooooooood.
