When we get off Valor in Miami we need to get to the airport in Fort Lauderdale asap. Best way? Taxi, Carnival shuttle?

ASAP ? - then a cab. Carnival shuttle will wait until it is relatively full (not completely) before they shove off.

Check with Tri County Express, http://www.floridalimo.com/ This is just a sample of their services.

Meet & Greet Service

Our driver will meet you or your party in the baggage claim area, with a sign, upon arrival of the flight. For arrivals at the Fort Lauderdale – Hollywood International Airport very little notice is required because our fleet of 150 vehicles are based there. With prior notice we can also provide this service at the Miami Airport, Palm Beach Airport, Port Everglades and the Port of Miami. If you find the parking to be a problem or if you can't make it to pick up your friends, family or business associates, this is the perfect solution - competitive rates, Lincoln Towncars used exclusively and a simple phone call prior to the arrival will get the job done.
All major credit cards accepted.

How far is it in minutes from Fort Lauderdale to Miami?

Also, do people have an opinion about which port is better to sail out of....i.e. conveinence, costs, etc.
