CALM ME DOWN.... MY 13 YEAR OLD IS CRUISING WITHOUT ME :(
Ok, now I know I shouldn't be nervous.... After all, this will be her 14th Carnival cruise, and she is traveling with my mom, dad, sister, sisters husband and 4 cousins (ages 4, 4, 14 and 16) BUT.... I am sooooooo nervous...
She knows the "rules", she knows the "ins and outs" ....she's been doing it her whole life BUT AGAIN............ I am sooooooooo nervous....
Help calm me down.... They're doing the Imagination August 13th sailing.... My parents are also Platinum and the rest of the family are repeat cruisers... This is the 1st time that she's going without us.... So, why am I sooooooooo nervous????

You're nervous because she is your 13 year old daughter!
I guess I would ask you: Do your parents and sister understand what you expect of your daughter and what rules you have set out for her? Have all of you cruised together before? If you so, you can relax and know that they will look out for her.

I know,, my husband mentioned taking my 3 boys on a cruise (I love you honey,, but are you out of your mind!) I think back to when we first met and I kept saying make sure Patrick wears his seatbelt and sits between the other 2 boys. Sure enough one day when we were driving and not stopped yet my son opens his car door and swung out on it (my point proved finally since he thought I was just crazy over-protective). Fortunately we were just moving slow in a parking lot and he was holding on to the door and it swung back as I stopped. I dont' think there's any part of my youngests brain that ever says to him, "This may not be a good idea."
OHMYGAWD I'm almost 38 and have only been on two cruises! 14th cruise and she's 13..oh my....I'll be over 40 by te time I get to the 10th cruise, even if I do two a year!
Makes me wish my parents didn't think that jumping in the RV and going for two-three weeks of camping HELL was fun....yes, there were good moments, but most of the time it turned out horribly wrong and I really hated having to help with cooking, cleanig, and all other tasks when I was supposed to be on holidays. Oh yes, also many of the lakes weren't all that great we would go to.....Wishing I was a member of your family...I was 16 when I went for my first "real" vacation where we stayed in a hotel and had someone clean the room--although my mom still insisted on cleaning before housekeeping showed up...
Your not worried, your jealous!! You want to go too.
What you are feeling, is normal. Be rest assured that your child will be with people that will show lots of love.
Luanne,
I am totally jealous but still a little bit nervous. Every day so far I've told her at least one more thing that I think of...
You're not allowed out on deck after dark...
Make sure you're always with your cousins, never alone...
Do not stick you hands or feet in the elevator door to hold it open (I recently read a thread about a kid losing part of a finger doing that)
The only thing that is keeping me from totally losing my mind is that she's already been on so many cruises and I know that she knows the rules, but I'm still nervous...
