Default Rear facing aft cabin

I have just booked cabin 6262 on the Carnival Miracle.

Is this good to be rear facing? I have never had a balcony before, just inside cabins.

We won't be able to see any of the port we pull into, but is it wot=rth it having the wake behind ?

What about wind suction? Hopefully we will be able to keep our door open.

Has anyone had this cabin or another rear facing aft cabin, please fill me in!

Thanks, Kelly

Those cabins are EXTREMELY desirable and generally booked a year in advance. I think you'll have a GREAT cruise.

Like Cleveland sez, some people wouldn't consider sailing in any cabin except the aft rear facing balcony cabins. I'd bet you'll find it's absolutely GREAT! Have a super cruise, and tell us all about it when you return.

Lots of people love those rear facing aft staterooms, not my personal preference....too noisy and too much vibration.

In my ongoing effort to keep people from booking stern cabins and have them all to myself; I say don't book it. They are noisy, vibrate and filled with engine smoke.

Seriously: I find them the most desirable cabins on the ship. On most of the newer ships, Year 2000 +, they have little vibration, the vast majority have larger balconies and the overall view is wonderful. There is nothing like sitting out there, in the evening, and watching the wake or having a sailaway on the balcony.

Take care,
Mike

We've had the aft cabins on several ships ships. They are the best!

I loved the view of the wake (we also had an aft balcony on the Miracle), but I was really disappointed about not being able to see when we pulled into ports.

We missed that slow approach with the great view.

That all being said, most people LOVE the aft balcony cabins and I'm sure you will have a wonderful cruise. Any balcony that isn't an obstructed is good to me.

we had a aft cabin but it was a corner cabin as well, so our balcony door went to the aft of the ship, but we could walk our balcony all the way around to the side of the ship. It was great being able to lay in bed, with the windows open and watch the wake the ship left behind.

Hope you enjoy your cruise!

I have done the aft cabins before and, honestly, I didn't care for it. I want to see where I am going, not where I have been.

Rear facing cabins are , by far , the preferred cabins for my wife and I.

To me, they giving me a feeling of being alone on the ship rather than just cabin # 10 in a row of 60 or so.

The only down side for me was that you get just about no breeze out there so it can be really hot in the Caribbean. I found that about the only time I was out there for any length of time was early morning and late at night. I still enjoyed the aft balcony, though.
