Default Cruising in January, weather in Port Canaveral??

My wife and I are going on the Glory Western, in January with my parents. We were just wondering what kind of weather we could expect in Port Canaveral in the middle of January?? I know that it gets really windy on board and wast sure if we should pack any warmer clothes for that 1st day and returning on the last day. Thank you for any help.

This is Florida so you can expect ANYTHING. It can be 75 in Florida or it can be 32. We live a couple of hours north of Cape Canaveral so I am not positive how cold it gets there but it should be pretty close to out weather. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to plan for that time of year because we have so many differences in temp extremes. January tends to be about the coldest time here but I can't say enough that it varies tremendously! Just watch the weather as your time gets closer and hope for the best!

During the day, it should be in the low 70's, average temp at night is 40's-50's. A light jacket on deck should be fine...remember, you will be traveling south and every nautical mile you travel, it will be warming up.

We did Glory western in February, FABULOUS cruise. Like the others said, weather's a crap shoot that time of year. We needed sweatshirts and windbreakers on deck first nite. BUT, when you awaken, nothin but warm tropical air for the rest of the cruise. Here's a link to Canaveral's average temps for each month of the year. You can probably find the averages for your destinations on that site also, or take my word for it, it'll be GORGEOUS.

My Parents lived one exit north of Port Canaveral for 20 years. (They just moved up here last week and I lost my free hotel, parking space and port shuttle)

They never wore anything heavier than a sweatshirt, light jacket or sweater.
Most of January and February, it might dip into the low 70's during the day.

Unless are from Arizona or Miami, I doubt you'll need anything heavier than a sweater. (if that)

Pack something warm because it will be cool for the entire trip.

Thanks for all of the advice. We were worried that it might be a bit cool with the wind on the first night, and maybe coming back too. So we'll pack a few warmer things and then unload to the tropical gear once we get south. Thanks again for all of the help.
