Default different color carpets for odd vs even numbered cabins?

Is it true that the hallways have different color carpets based on if it's an odd-or even-numbered room so you know which color your hallway is and can find it more easily?

I'm trying to remember if it was the Carnival ships or the Royal Caribbean ships that had the different colored carpet! One of the cruise lines did. It sure was convenient!

Princess has different color carpets. Red/pink = port side and blue = starboard side.

IIRC, so does RCI.

I didn't know that the ship has different colored lights on each side, to tell other ships which direction we were going in.

never noticed the carpet - only time I was that close to the carpet I was passed out! just joking

Carnival does color code each floor; i.e. the doors of your cabin will be a certain color; as I recall the floors were red, blue, peachy orange, ???? .... now I think the Empress deck was the peachy orange color / the Riveria deck was blue?

thanks everyone! that's cool about the lights on the outside of the ships, Luanne.

Hey, when you have an outside room, if you leave your window curtain open do the ship's outside lights illuminate the room pretty well?

Yep, the colors of the carpet are different colors on the odd, and even sides (port or starboard) of the ship. Just look for the "red" or "blue" when you get off the elevators. (This way, you can pretend you know exactly where you're going) Royal Caribbean ships (at least the Voyager Class ) have the day of the week in the carpet which they change every day. (usually)

Michelle,

It does, but is not as bright as you would think. What is bright, is forgetting to close them, and waking up with the sun in your eyes.
