After reading several threads regarding the single outlet, we have determined to take a small extension cord and surge protector on the cruise with us (her curling iron, straightener, and blow dryer, my cameras, mp3, laptop).. Should I pack this in my checked luggage or my carry-on luggage?
Checked luggage - looks fishy - may result in a concern if they inspect the bag/X-ray the bag.
Carry-on - definitely getting pulled to the side and inspected. I would keep it with the laptop so hopefully the TSA would put 2 and 2 together.
If I knew Miami a little more, I would probably buy one down there, but I know we will be strapped for time.
on a similar note - I thought I read months ago that the outlets in the cabins didn't have the round grounding part so we should bring power strips that only have the two thin flat part that go into the outlet.
Is this true? I finally found such power strips at Wal-Mart; they only have 3 outlets each but I bought 2 and can loop them together to charge the digicam battery, cell phone and my son's DS.
The reason for the power strip is because you only have one plug in in the room. It is usually located behind the bed, so you might have to look for it.
The extension cord is so you are not doing your hair, on the bed, in a laying down position, which frankly, is the way I always enjoy doing mine.

Ok, I think I am confuses. Do the wall outlets have 3 prongs or two? I could have sworn the strip I took last year had a 3 prong cord on it that I plugged into the wall outlet. Maybe I just don't remember what I took. I never used it though. Never needed anything but the wall outlet and it was very easy to get too, no hiding behind the bed. I thought all power strips were three pronged.

I am sitting here holding mine, and it has three prones. Some of the rooms have the wall thingy behind the bed. It depends on the room, and the way the beds are set up.
Okay, I thought they had three prongs. I was just going to take an outlet expander, but I guess I will take the power strip in case the outlet is hid behind the bed. I never even used my power strip last year. Didn't have the need to.

Do you mean me? I'll actually have an outside room cabin 6b. I upgraded a month or two ago while there was still one available. It costs a few hundred $ now than when I booked it so I'm glad I upgraded early!
That's even better. You have two night stands, lots of drawers, and the same amount of hang up space. The plug or outlet will probably be in between the two beds.
I heard about a product on this or another board that might of interest to some. I need them here at home, but also for our cruise, so I have ordered 3.

It is cruise fever. It can't be cured, but you can feed it, by booking over and over again.
Yes, I have Cruise Fever. I hungrily search out all photos of the Sensation on webshots.com and the CM photo gallery and imagine myself on the deck, in the pool, etc... I know it won't compare to actrually being there. I have a memory card ready to take 2550 photos/short videos (at medium res. 10,000 at lowest res). plus two 1/4 gig card to take another 1452 at lowest resolution if I need them. I have the few clothes I'm taking at the front of my closet ready to pack. Everything else that's going is in a backpack or already in the two carry-ons (only luggage we'll have).
Also, there's a special project I'll be working on that is related to the cruise, and I'll let everyone here know about it soon - over the weekend hopefully!
As far as another booking, I'm a divorced mother and my son is about to start high school. I will not have money for this any time soon. Based on how much financial aid/student loans we can get for college (his dad and I have nothing saved), we MAY do a 7-8 day eastern caribbean (or alaska) when he graduates high school. In summer 2009 I will probably book it for June 2011, and I hope I won't have to cancle it for financial reasons!
It doesn't matter where its packed. Even if its x-rayed TSA will be able to tell what it is. It isn't a prohibitied item and I'm sure they see them all the time in luggage.
