Default ? about weather and excursion cancellations

here's the forecast for Freeport on Monday

Monday: Thunderstorm. Partly Cloudy. High: 87° F. / 31° C. Wind WSW 8 mph. / 14 km/h. Chance of precipitation 60%.

should I expect that my atlantic tour and harbor boat cruise will be cancelled? if weather causes excursions to be cancelled how do you find out?

it looks only partly cloudy in Nassau on Tuesday so I'm not worried about that.....yet

Michelle:

I can''t answer your questions but I will ask you one, where do you get the weather info? Would love to have something else to "worry" hubby's words not mine, concerning our trip.

go to www.wunderground.com

type in your destination city or country near the left top corner
it will display a few day forecast at the top, but if you scroll down, there's a 7/8 day forecast along the right side of the screen.

I will be checking the Orlando and Bahamas forecasts as soon as I wake up Sat. morning.

I use weather.com for cruise planning. Not only can you get 10 day forecasts, but you can also get monthly average hi/lo for the entire year. Most Caribbean port cities are available there. Example:

Grand Cayman averages

Michelle, in case you have trouble navigating that site, here's the links for your itinerary Canaveral/Freeport/Nassau. I have them all bookmarked.

wow, thanks! sheesh, seems like I"m in for scattered thunderstorms wherever I go - it's a good thing I am bringing 2 compact umbrellas to keep in our tote bag. I"ll just hope it all blows over before we hit the Bahamas Monday morning. If not, I don't care. We will have a blast no matter what - and if the excursions are cancelled due to weather, we'll just enjoy the ship even more!

Question: do they cancel shore excursions if there are thunderstorms? I would imagiine anything that involves being in or on the water would be cancelled. I can see the glass bottom boat being cancelled and the atlantis tour as it also has a harbor tour as part of it. But the historical highlights van tour will probably go on.

try not to stress too much about the weather; it is the Carribbean and they usually have afternoon "thunderstorms" - generally they go through pretty quick and do not interfere - usually the Bahama iteniary gets you in early and out and the rain comes just as you are finishing your excursion.

cancellation policy - I have not personally had an excursion cancelled due to weather - but as I understand it, if you book through Carnival; you are credited to your account - if you paid cash on your account, I would expect that a check will be delivered on the last night with your final statement.
