Default Sandals excursion in Montego Bay

Has anyone actually been on this excursion? What can we expect? I thought it sounded like a great way to spend some time in Jamaica without the worry of all the other terrible things I hear. However, I've heard some troubling things about this excursion, and would like the opinions of the CruiseMates. Thanks for your replies.

just my two cents since I've never been there myself...

I have only heard great things about the excursion. The worst thing I've heard is that it is over too quick. I had it booked but found out it was a resort for couples and I was booked with my sister and her best friend. We decided not to take the risk of feeling out of place.

you should have a great time

I heard that it's too short, you only eat at one place, that all drinks aren't included, it doesn't feel safe, lots of pushy beach vendors....etc.

We have heard terrible things about Jamaica in general and are hesitant to take an excursion...and if we're shelling out $100 a head, we want to be sure that it's worth it. Otherwise, we'll stay on the beautiful boat and admire from afar until we get to Grand Cayman.

Default Sandals at Montego Bay

We took this tour last February and quite liked it. When you get there they do a little orientation and welcome you. After that you get the run of the beach area, beach toys etc. All of the drinks are included ( I drank enough to cover the cost of my tour - at least just about). The bar tenders are very liberal in their pouring and the brands are like you get at home - (Appleton Rum, Absolute Vodka, Canadian Club etc.) the staff are very friendly. No tipping is allowed. Any staff member accepting a tip is fired - so don't offer.
They have a big inside buffet area where you can get a variety of food. You can either eat inside, or take it out to tables outside. The food is OK, but you get better on the ship as a comparison.

At the end your visit they have a little goodbye celebration before you get back on your bus.

We would do this tour again if we ever went back, however we have been to Jamaica a couple of times before and did Dunns River Falls and an Island tour which we thought were good too. Now we're content to sit back on the beach and enjoy the sun & sea.
