Default Penalty for switching people in rooms?

We now have a person in our group who is not going on our cruise in December

We need to find the best way to move someone from a 4 person room into the two person room where our person canceling was booked.

Do we swap the people then cancel the one or cancel the one and move the person from the four person room into the two person room? Thanks for advice, Carla

sorry that your friend is not going - I think I understand what you are asking

first of I would check the price - as if you were booking all over again, with the twin room and if it is cheaper, cancel your first booking, then start over with the new booking(s)

however, the per person rate may have increased since your initial booking, then I would call Carnival and speak to an agent (assumming you booked directly with carnival)

Thanks for the help. The price has gone up another 25% from when we booked. So I guess we are at the PVP's mercy.

Yeah, be careful because if they move them by cancelling and rebooking the higher rate applies. Still if you cancel the 2nd person the one left will probably get charged a higher rate.

If you can cancel one without creating a higher rate for the single cruiser, then it's easy to have the purser change the room key / sail and sign card. We've done that a couple of times.
