Default For Those Who Have Cruised Before

Is there something you wish you had done, on your cruise, that you didn't?

I still have not learned how to relax. We are still trying to do to much.

I also have yet to eat at the speciality restaurant.

What about you?

We completely forgot about going to the Chocolate Buffet and the Midnight Gala, and the Newly not so Newly Wed Game. I will definately use you idea of using highlighters on the Capers on our next cruise.

Make it to the midnight buffet.....I never seem to make it. I heard there was a "Chocolate Buffet" on the Conquest....is this true???? Is it in addition to the regular Midnight Buffet???? If so, there will be a concerted effort on my part to stay awake for that. Lots of naps on that day.....yes.....lots of naps!!

The chocolate buffet on the Conquest is during the day. What Jim and I do, is get a tray, and get a little bit of everything, and take it back to the room.

For those of you who do not like chocolate, they have other goodies too.

Does anyone know if there is a chocolate buffet on the Inspiration?

Sorry, the chocolate buffet is only on Conquest-class ships unless something has changed recently. It's usually last sea day at noon in the lido buffet. BUT, if you're booked on Inspiration outta Tampa to GC/Cozumel, you're gonna be so thrilled you'll never miss it. GREAT CRUISE!

I don't have any things I wished I'd done on Sensation last week - we had a great time with all that we did.

the midnight buffets - I seem to miss them each time - but I usually make up for it by ordering room service!

I usually have no regrets other than I wish I had won more money in the casino!

Ditto on the midnight buffet!

We cruise with our kids so after we pick them up from camp we all crash and sleep like babes

Sailed with my grandson in June and we missed a lot of the trivia games, my grandson wanted to win the Ship On A Stick...we did manage to squeeze in two trivia games towards the end of the cruise and won first place but they had run out of Ships On A Stick and we were awarded a medallion...he was very happy with that and wore it for the remainder of the cruise. Oh, we also missed karaoke, sushi, bingo, and water slide. There are so many activities offered that you really have to plan your days carefully.

We didn't make it into any of the bars/lounges/dance joints on our first (and so far only) cruise. With late dinner seating, stage shows, and early port calls on our short 5 night trip, there was just not a lot of late night activity for us. We looked at the midnight buffets, but didn't partake as we were still full from dinner. Unusual for us as we normally don't need to be hungry to eat!

I am determined to visit those lounges and partake in a little dancing on our upcoming cruise at the end of the month, though.

We usually get a balcony room. So on our 4th cruise finally got smart enough to order coffee via room service. Very relaxing. Nothing better than enjoying a cup of brew in the morning sitting on your balcony looking out over the beautiful ocean. Ah, life is good.

I too have to learn how to relax on board, I try to squeeze everthing
in during the cruise. I have to stop and smell the sea air.

I did not win at bingo, or the casino's or the art auction. I did not push away from the dining table/buffett line when I was full. I did not pass up that bargain in the gift shop.

What I try to do, is when I am on the cruise forums, I try to take notes of what people have said to see/do. Then before my trip, I type up a page of things to see/do, and as I see/do them, I mark them off. The paper is just a reminder to me.

just came off the conquest 2 weeks ago (the crew had to pull me off kiciking & screaming) yea-i had a great time,we are my wife have already booked another cruise for next july aboard the same ship. we got to catch the choc buffet, midnight buffet, a couple of shows (the guy that does the motown show on tuesday night is a sure winner). we missed the galley tour & also missed the captains cocktail party, which we will be sure to make the next time. we mainly enjoyed just relaxing, sitting by the pool, walking along the outside decks at night, having a few drinks at alfreds,etc.,etc.,etc. this was the 1st cruise for my wife, daughter, friend & i.

Mark,

Isn't she a beautiful ship? Glad to see you had fun. Could you do a review for us?

Start with how you got to Galveston, and when you left, and don't forget all the good stuff in the middle.

indulge in one of those donuts that they dip in chocolate while you wait. I don't care for chocolate but I missed my opportunity to indulge. Will not happen again.

also missed some of the day time activities that I would have liked.

missed going to Senor Frog in Nassau because of the rain.

Other than those few things, I did all that I wanted to do and more.

I have a list that I will want to accomplish in September or February, and it goes like this

Eat in the restaurant each night--we mostly ate on the Lido deck grad buffet--tasty, but missed the variety from the restaurant

Relax on a deck chair--I had so much I wanted to do I managed at best ONE hour of deck time. I came home just as white with a few patches of burnt skin on my arms, back, and shoulders

Try the goodies at the cafe--I won't just look this time!

Explore every nook and cranny on the sahip--even the gym will get checked out, but doubtful to use.

Pictures, pictures, and more pictures--Take more shots of the ship and on shore. I have two digital cameras and three digital cards and can take close to 2000 pictures...doubt I'll take that many, but I can try.

Whirlpools--take advantage of them at night to soak my bones after a long day.

Get me a 24-karat gold plastic ship on a stick with it's very own dust cover. I ALMOST won one at the famous faces, I was off by one. I did get a medallion....alas, that won't look good sitting on my desk at work.....

Try and stay awake for the midnight gala--even just for the pictures. I'll be able to now because I'm travelling alone and don't have anyone to try to NOT wake up when I come in......

That is about all, but it is enough....

35 days and counting!

Luanne,

I wish just once I had won the free cruise while playing bingo. Just winning at bingo would have been nice.

I wish when I was younger I had met and married a gazillionaire while on a cruise ship...just kidding on this one. I have been happily married to the same guy for 32 years!

I have no regrets other than the week ends too quickly!

Yeah behind a rowboat with an outboard motor on a lake when I was a kid and went to sleepaway camp up in the Catskill mountains of NY State. Lots of fun but back then I was young and foolish and very daring. Would never do it now......!!!!! Now I just want to lay on the deck of a ship and maybe have it get pulled into the port by a tug boat!!!

you wanna hear the Captain's story Sandi? Get ready for this one:

When I was a kid, I used to mono ski easily being pulled by a 35HP (horsepower) outboard motor
Now: I need at least a 75HP motor to pull me out of the water on 2 skis, I hate to think the power I need to mono-ski!
Weight has not been as graceful to me as age has been, Sandi

LMAO

maybe that's what gets me in trouble in the first place! I talk too much, the Mrs says............I think I told you my little joke about me & the Mrs didn't, I the other day?
The Mrs religiously goes to church every Sunday.
So when she hits me with the "you talk too much" line, "why don't you tag along with me to church",
I reply:
"Sweetheart, you go to church and do all the praying for us while I do all the talking for us"
