Default Duck Tape??

Okay, I'm getting excited now, I leave 2 weeks from today...
I can't remember, what is the duck tape for? Is that for the door decor or what? 8)

for taping your suitcase shut in case it breaks.... wrapping up boxes... taping the drawers from slamming in case of the boat rocking... taping the shower curtain down so its not all over you... to name a few.. duct tape has a million uses.

You know the old red neck rule of home repair:

If it moves and it shouldn't duck tape it.
If it suppose to move and dosn't WD40 it.

Have a good trip, Carla

I have never cruised without my lime green duct tape, and have used it on every cruise, including my formal dress I got caught in the elevator.

Nursey, Don't be put off by that. My Maid of Honor is larger than you and I, and she could not find the proper fitting gear for under her bridesmaid dress so we resorted to a duct tape foundation garment and it worked beautifully with the backless dresses. The best part was after our wedding when she took it off. Her six year old son thought it made a great two horned space invaders helmet.

With regard to my picture here. I just had the basic black strapless. But that bustier is from Jessica McClintock and luckily it effectively cinched everything in and prevented a blow out and two blackeyes lol.

Funny you should say that. There was a guy in Kentucky that was arrested doing just that. He used the tape as a mask. Check it out.

Arrowhead, I know about the duct tape idiot--er-- bandit-- I live in Kentucky and saw it on the local news the same day it happened.
That's why I posted the ( trying to be ) humorous remark about taping the face and robbing the pursers desk.
His efforts to rob the place earned him a few well placed thumps with a large club ---( also wrapped in duct tape ).
Oh well-- there's always a nut loose somewhere.

It's strange: A number of years ago I too took the long time advice and brought duct tape on my first four or five cruises and never used it. I haven't packed it since and have never needed it.

Then again, I have always packed my Leatherman multi-tool and have used it on almost every cruise. I pack it in my checked luggage and have never had a problem. I've used it for cutting fruit, cutting loose threads, fixing luggage, tightening a loose screw on a ceiling panel that was squeaking and driving us crazy, opening bottles on shore excursions. (I was a hero when the guide forgot the bottle opener and no could open the beer. ) People have thought I was crazy for having it but then again,...........

My wife has never had to tape in the "guys" or her dress or repair a tear: She has a sewing kit for that but I can see where it "could" come in handy, so if you can use duct tape, then go for it.

Take care,
Mike

Jim has his super duper knife, and he has always used it, but it didn't help when we ordered room decorations and all the ship had was Scotch tape.

When I tore my dress, there is not a sewing kit in the world that would have helped it, because it torn the material, not a seam, and it must have been two or three yards long.

When we hit rough seas, and the cabinets came open, and then closed themselves, the knife would not have helped.

Also, if you have a can of beer, and it sides up and down the counter, you either have had to much to drink, and need to switch to soda, or the seas are a little rough, and the can fits down inside the tape ring, for stay put ease.

We have used the same roll of tape, (lime green) and it is part of our cruise packing.

Nurseypoo5,
Thank you for asking that question. I had heard many uses for duct tape, but that takes the cake. My DW laughed so hard, she had tears in her eyes. She sent it to her work computer & I'm sure she's sending it to all the girls at her place of employment.
I now have my own dedicated roll for cruising!!

Barney
