My wife and I are looking forward to our New Year's Eve cruise on the Carnival Liberty. We would like to know how formal do we need to dress for this occasion. We are use to dressing on formal nights, but notice not everyone does. We would just like some direction for this particular evening.

Dress code isn't any different than any other Formal/Resort Casual night of that week. Nothing stops you from dressing "above and beyond" that particular night's Dress Code.

Actually our PVP told us it was different. He said the captains party for new years eve would require a tux for men.

It has been almost ten years since I wore a tux, but I am certainly not one to miss out on a good party. I guess a tux is in order.
No matter what I end up wearing, I certainly am looking forward to ringing out the old and ringing in the new year on my favorite place to be, a CRUISE SHIP.

Thats what we are trying to figure out too! Still have not got a lot of info from carnival. We may have to wait a couple months until it closer. You might trying calling your PVP to see if they know more than ours Carla

I was told that it is a scheduled formal night it is captains night. We board on the 30th and the 31st is captains night. So I beleive we will only have two formals. I will have 3 sine I have a wedding on the ship the 2nd of January.
I will be sailing the Valor as well see you on board .
I would suggest that everyone contact their PVP for the info on proper attire for NYE. I was told by past cruisers that NYE was a formal evening but a Tux was not required (and rarely seen). Carla was told otherwise. I have not contacted my PVP yet; however, I'm not sure the info is quite clear at this time. I'm with Carla...info will probably not be known till closer to departure. If anyone gets a straight answer please post! Thanks.

Monring, So after yesterday discussion about NYE I called our PVP who is handling the group booking and wedding. She told me that if you are sailing on teh Valor departing miami the 30th of December that captains night does fall on NYE. She mentioned that tux is optional not required. She also tol dme that party favors and hats will be placed on each table setting (so do not lose them before midnight ). There is a deck party scheduled, if it rains they bring it inside. That is pretty much it. I heard from another cruise that they had put up a gaint screen to be able to see the countdown, now this is hear say so do not quote me jeje. I hope this is helpful for those sailing the valor the same time as me.

My cousin is getting married in St Thomas at 10:30a.m. on teh beach at maegans bay. The reception will be that evening on the ship she is having a private cocktail and recpetion. So we have to buy 2 dresses LOl one for the beach and one for the evening. We cann ot wait. We are a large group 43 people. This is our first time on the Valor. Have you sailed her before?
