Not to put a damper on your lobster adventure, but don't judge lobster on a ship as compared to a good resturant.
The lobster is usually rock lobster and it is like chewing rubberbands.

This little PIGGY will take 2 please! And, I want to say that so far I've had great lobster on my cruises. Sometimes small and leaves me wanting more. But that's ok ... If it's really small when they bring it... I smile and say, "another please".
YUM-O

We went on our 1st cruise last year....once I heard they served lobster, I demanded that we all order that...knowing the kids wouldn't eat that but I did blackmail them for burgers later & a little free time....Well, I guess too much sun, too many fun ships...as soon as food started being served, I wasn't feeling too well....when I returned the kids & my BF were sitting there, just staring at their lobsters...and our waitress Loridonna had mine packaged up for me to take (they told her how much I loved it)...I asked them why hadn't they eaten, they said, Mom, you weren't here to show us how to "get into it"....
I do plan on trying it again on the Fantasy in 15 days!
Fred,
On the Costa Magica, they serve the same dinner items in the buffet as they do in the dining room, lobster included. The most I ever downed was
2 in the dining room then went up to the buffet for 5 more!
I keep telling my Girlfriend that I was going bring the lobster home as a pet. Now she gives me lobster pinches in bed sometimes . But she did get me a Lobster Beany Baby called Pincher which resides on my dresser.

Geeeez, lobster's for sissies! Order the escargot, then you've really tried something ugh different. I order them every cruise, not that I like em, just like to see the expression on everyone' else's face at the table, PRICELESS! Oh, and they do also serve rock lobster (langostino) as an appetizer and it is tough to shell/eat.
Our last cruise aboard "Glory" they had escargot on the "every night" menu. Really, really good! The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) always has at least two lobsters. (sometimes three, but don't tell her I told you!) We've had the rubber lobster aboard ship, but they are usually very good!
Lobster night on the Legend was sub standard since the lobster had a sand grit texture. This was almost inedible on our cruise and I only took two bites. Im sure this is not fleet wide since the lobster on the Miracle a year before was very good, but I could not believe how bad it was on the Legend. The lobster was the only food that I would describe as bad but the escargot was awesome!!
Never had lobster (as it appears the men in my family are allergic) but has anyone ever had crab on board a Carnival ship? I would love that!!!
If you are even on the Caribean Princess, they have a sea food buffet the first night with all the crab legs you can eat. They have other seafood too.
I think another ship also has this, but not every Princess ship. Everyone with our group skipped the dining room the first night for the all you can eat sea food.

I'm sorry, but you will never see me eating escargot.... I could be bought , but that's they only way.
As far as lobster like rubber... that reminds me of the time we order a sample appetizer plate once... I couldn't believe it, the onion rings tasted like rubber.... (calamari) blucko!
I'm sorry, but you will never see me eating escargot....
Well you might be able to get away with that over there on the left coast, but if you ever get to the Caribbean, conch is the breakfast of champions. And the natives don't bother cookin it either! YUM!

Are you calling rock shrimp, rock lobster?? I once thought I could eat endless shrimp and bought like a 100 lb bag of rock shrimp....yes 100 lbs. Thought I was being thrify. I wound up throwing some away. They are that hard to shell. Rock shrimp do have a lobster like taste, so maybe they are also called rock lobster, though I have never heard that term. Rock shrimp they say have a similar taste to langostino. I tried for almost a year to peel those 100 lbs of rock shrimp before I threw the rest away.
I'm so ordering the escargot...i ate ONE at disney during the food and wine thing last october, it was...different. I do have a funny pic of my son wiping his mouth on his shirt after he tried to eat one...which was so funny cuz he hates EVERYTHING!
I didn't know I could ask for seconds when I was on the Victory in January, so all I had was one. They had lobster night on Sensation when my brother (the pig he is) had THREE!!!!
I now to know to ask for at least two *BG*......maybe three....*BG*
20 days, 20 days *BG*

My husband loves escargot. He is looking forward to it on the cruise. I won't try it, though. I'm sorry, I will try most anything, but I just can't get past the fact that it is a SNAIL. I turn my head when he eats them!
